Pros: Handling, acceleration, front seat comfort, still unique even in more mainstream form Cons: Seats could use more lateral support, rear seat tight, high cowl
A year ago I drove and reviewed the then-new 9-3 in base trim, Linear in Saab parlance. I found it overly bland, especially for such an idiosyncratic marque, and hypothesized that the performance model, the Vector, could be better. ...

Pros: breath-taking driving experience; more airbags and safety features than you can count Cons: seat cushions need some beefing up; audio system needs better speakers
If you're anything like me, the more you learn about this car, the more you'll want to buy it. I've had my 2004 9-3 Linear for 4 months, and I've already put over 7000 miles and three long roadtrips on it. Other reviewers have covered the features and ...

Pros: Swedish luxury, leading safety, great turbo engine, even greater interior experience, center key ignition, beautiful Cons: some noise issues, faulty key system, rear seats could be more comfortable
EXPERIENCE WITH CAR: I have had my 2004 9-3 Linear for about a year now and I still look forward to driving it home everyday after work. I commute about 45 minutes each way, all highway, so driving my Saab each day is like being an airline pilot. I ...

Pros: Different. Smooth highway cruiser. Good gas mileage. Cons: Jerky driveability with auto trans. Some quality issues.
We have had our 9-3 Linear for about 7 months now. It is equipped with the automatic transmission, sunroof, and 16" alloy wheels options. When I went car shopping last October I was skeptical about the GM influenced Saab but after reading as many ...

Fun car and great gas mileage
by jwetzel3141 ,Dec 29 '04
Pros: Refinement of driving experience. Great gas mileage Cons: Linear version has just average sound system.
I had been trying for quite some time to get my wife to get a new car. She had a 9-year old car, but nothing new really attracted her. Finally, I had her drive the Saab 9-3 Linear 5-speed. To my great surprise, she really liked it. So that's what we got. I am personally amazed that a car this reasonably priced is so good. The 5-speed is amazingly fun. This baby sails along the highway and if you don't watch the speed you will hit 70 without knowing it. And get this: 33mpg in the city. The trip computer told me this, but I didn't believe it. So I calculated it myself and it's always well above 30mpg. I have no idea how this little engine can seem so powerful but sip the gas like it does.
I have never had a Saab before, but I am simply amazed at the quality of the 9-3 Linear.

Wonderful to drive...
by alpocapo ,Dec 06 '03
Pros: Easy/fun to drive Cons: Lateral seat support, noisy ABS
I just dumped my 1999 Audi A4 Quattro for a brand new 2004 Saab 9.3 Linear and let me tell you, this car is wonderful and a joy to drive! It drives way better than my Audi ever did and is great in the snow too (the TCS and Stability are great features)! I drove lots of cars including: Acura TSX, BMW 325xi, and M.B. C230. This one was by far the best for the money...

Automatic Seat Memory Defect
by arthurr ,Apr 17 '04
Pros: Power, ergonomics Cons: Hard ride, seat memory button
I have recently bought a Saab 9-3 Arc Sedan, Loaded. I like the car very much, but, when I get in and out of the car, the seat fabric 'folds over' and erases the seat memory!. If the buttons were placed differently, or perhaps in some way less accessible, this wouldn't happen! A quick 'fix' is to fold a piece of cardboard over the switch, tucked in between the seat and the plastic molding that holds the switch, effectively covering the switch. This shouldn't have to be done to a new car! I contacted Saab and they told me I should be more attentive to how I get into or out of the car! -To me, that was an unsatisfactory answer! The following is their reply: I apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing due to the memory
settings. Saab USA can only suggest to our customers who are aware of the
placement of these buttons to simply keep this information in mind when entering
and exiting the vehicle.
