Pros: Acceleration, unique styling Cons: Numb steering, uncomfortable rear seat, cheap interior materials
My evaluation of the Red Line version follows the original review. The compact SUV segment has become increasingly crowded. Nearly every major brand either has one or is getting one. To cut through the clutter a vehicle must have something special ...

Pros: Styling, acceleration, Honda engine, dent resistant plastic body panels, stereo, sales incentives/rebates. Cons: Leather quality on seats/steering wheel, poorly placed controls for the power seats, gas mileage (V6)
I purchased my silver 2004 Saturn Vue Red Line AWD in March of 2004 and as of this review have driven it for 4000 trouble free miles. I paid $28,040 and my Vue has the following options: Red Line performance package consisting of the following: ...

Pros: Power and performance, decent sound system, intelligent design, fun to drive, distinctive. Cons: Mileage, cheap-looking interior, flimsy A/C controls, interior storage space could be better.
When my wife decided to quit her job to stay at home, two cars seemed pointless. So we decided to consolidate our two cars into one. But what to get? We had a 1999 Ford Explorer Sport and a 1998 Saab 900s Turbo. We loved the power and all-weather ...

Pros: Powerful V-6, smooth transmission, wonderful dent resistant polymer panels. Cons: Advanced audio, leather grade.
Dashboard vinyl started to peel in year 3 of ownership.
I purchased a 04 Electric Lime Redline in April of 2004, and I am more than pleased. I am not a tuner or a ricer, just a 40-year-old female that needed a reliable SUV for hauling things around and getting back and forth to work. Therefore, if you are ...

Pros: The engine, and... Uhhhh... not much else Cons: Disgustingly cheap interior (look as well as feel), CVT transmission is quirky, numb steering.
My mom has been driving new Saturn’s since her first SL2 in 1998. Since then, she’s had 3 other SL2s (one had been wrecked), and most recently, the Vue. They live ‘out in the sticks’ as they like to call it, and with a 20-minute commute to work each ...

Pros: An abundance of power, roomy rear seat, versatile utility Cons: Spartan interior, short bottom cushion in front seat, odd control layout
I was able to test drive a new 2004 Saturn VUE AWD V6 about 50+ miles while my other Saturn (a 2003 L300) was in for service. The car I drove was silver with the gray leather interior. Along with the leather, it also had the 6-CD changer, the side ...

Pros: Roomy/decent gas mileage/outside temp gauge/grocery compartment in hatch Cons: Fuel filter inside gas tank/latex flakes off inside upholstery very easily
I have owned 3 Saturns over the last decade. My first was a 1994 SL1 that made it all the way to 250,000 miles before we had any major issues. The second was a 1999 Saturn SC1 3-door coupe that made it to 100,000 miles before the a/c stopped working ...

Pros: 250HP Honda 3.5L V6 & 5 speed Auto Tranny, & plenty of room. Cons: Little too much torque steer, & handling alittle soft for me.
Well I just bought my 2004 Silver Vue FWD 6 alittle over 1 month ago and am loving this wonderful SUV. I know there has been alot of bad things said about the 2002 & 2003 models but this 2004 with the Honda V6 & tranny are right on. Saturn did a ...

Pros: 5 star rating in rollover test, lowest insurance rates in category/class Cons: No grab bars, no ashtray, no storage pullover cover, no stock roof rails
The pros: The many things I love about this car are the following: The 2.2 Liter 4cylinder engine has plenty of power, the doors locks automatically when the car starts moving, the rear view mirror has direction/temperature and is auto-dimming, it has ...

Pros: Roomy, great cargo space, good mileage Cons: Dash noise, dash rattle, service reminder light, service dept.
Seriously rethink buying a Saturn VUE. I purchased my 2004 v6 FWD in October 2003. I have to constantly remind service to reset the service reminder (for oil, computer, or low water). The interior trim was glued on by some monkey (as in ...

by mmcoggins ,Apr 27 '04
Pros: Honda engine. Good gas mileage for a mid-size suv. Drives and brakes very smooth. Cons: Back seat not very comfortable. Too few exterior colors to choose from.
Don't worry about shopping cart dings...you can practicaly slug this thing with and hammer and it will bounce back! Unique body styling. Simple yet eye-pleasing body design.

Test Drive before you Buy
by kheim ,Dec 21 '04
Pros: Great Handling&Engine, Plastic panels, Flat floor for the rear passengers feet, Practical. High fun factor. Cons: Stiff seats, A strange headlight automatic on sequence. Wide winshield pillers.
I test drove the CRV, Highlander and the Pilot. All of these are good SUVs. The test drive of the AWD Vue Redline was a clear winner in the "fun to drive" class. Other SUVs in this price range can't even compare with the Redline for handling. It isn't a sports car but no one claims it to be one. This Honda engine with the light weight of the Vue chassis make this power to weight ratio combination not available anywhere else. (Yes their are some at double or triple the price.) Surprising V8 SUVs and trucks at the stoplights are fun. If a person looks very close you will see that the Vue was designed to perform with a 4 cyl engine which explains some of the lightweight component choices throughout the whole vehicle. The finished product sums up to be a very practical daily SUV that can accelerate right with the New Hemi Jeep and leave it behind in the first corner.

Buy safe, never let a salesman pressure you.
by niceguylookin ,Feb 03 '07
Pros: Very comfortable, stylish, roomy. All the seats lay down for more convenience. Cons: get a CarFax READ the fine print, don't get rushed into signing
I am very happy with my vue redline. I love the way it get's up and goes. The only problem that I have is how I didn't know enough before purchasing it. I should have been wiser and looked more at the fine print of the contract that I signed. The vehicle is comfortable, does wonderful on gas mileage and it is an awesome SUV to take a road trip in. And if need be you can fold down the seat and sleep in it. I have also used it to move. It is stylish and roomy and can hold a lot of stuff....believe me. I recommend the vehicle for anyone who is looking for a roomy, comfortable vehicle. And it does wonders in bad weather. I got it stuck in the mud and it came right out. I was really surprised and delight at the same time.
