A bit short in too many areas

by mkaresh mkaresh is a Lead on Epinions in Cars & Motorsports, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10, May 26 '05
Pros: Comfortable front and second-row seats, interior styling and materials, smooth ride, safety features
Cons: Just about everything else; too cramped in back in seven-passenger form
I'm going to need a vehicle like the B9 Tribeca about a year from now. But it won't be the Tribeca. You see, a couple months ago I made a deal with the...with my wife. I can get a sports car if I also get something larger and more functional to ...

This is the first Tribeca to come off the assembly line, and she likes it!

by DennisM Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Dec 10 '06
Pros: Quiet ride, solid construction, unusual design, not overpriced!
Cons: Could have better gas mileage, auto heating system could be better designed!
As the title says, it is true! Somehow I purchased the first Tribeca to come off the assembly line. As a matter of fact the VIN of the car is B37669000001. Even the insurance company made a comment when we took out the auto policy on it. He had never ...

Well Done SUV with Personality

by sailingshot , Jul 01 '05
Pros: Breaks from the crowd, great comfort, good power and handling.
Cons: Forget the 7 seat option, rear visibility less than great
Let me start off with one the more controversial elements of this SUV: Styling. While several publications comment that the B9’s nose is odd looking, the car has drawn 100% complements from people seeing it on the street in real life. I have not ...

2006 B9 Tribeca is a winner

by mikejl , Jul 02 '05
Pros: Interior room, exterior styling, available options, comfort
Cons: third row seat has limited usefulness, red back-lighting on the dash
I have been interested in this vehicle since I first heard about it in late 2004. I even attended the Auto Show in Pittsburgh just to see it. My anticipation level was sky-high by the time the first models arrived in the local showroom, and I have not ...

7 Passenger Seating is a Lie.

by dantematrix , Jun 05 '05
Pros: Looks cool. Great cockpit for the driver.
Cons: Fake 3rd row seating and lousy cargo space.
I was waiting for the Tribeca to come out so I can take a look at it. I was hoping to use it to replace my Chevy Venture. My requirements were cargo space and 7 passenger seating. And since it's a Subaru I didn't even bother worrying about handling ...

Cheap Interior, Marginal Room Mar Otherwise Impressive SUV

by mattthegeek , Aug 09 '05
Pros: Standard Subaru reliability and traction.
Cons: Chintzy plastics; ridiculous rear legroom.
I've always been a fan of Subarus, but have never appreciated the look or stance of the Forester. Notwithstanding the ugly nose (that apparently will be adopted across the entire Subaru product line), I was very much looking forward to the TriBeCa. At ...

Sure footed, stylish, well appointed interior, a bit thirsty

by abumgarn , Nov 20 '06
Pros: A great choice for the price considering the bland competition.
Cons: A little thirsty in the city.
I have had the joy of owning a B9 Tribeca Limited 7 passenger with the nav/dvd system for just about a year now. We took it on a cross country trip with a family of four, starting from Oregon, going to Long Island, NY and back while stopping in some ...

Honda/Toyota alternative

by magsal , Aug 10 '05
Pros: Interior, build quality, spaciousness, engine. 18" tires!
Cons: Front nose
My wife and I test drove several suv's including the Honda Pilot. We were dead set on purchasing the Honda since we knew we could get a 2005 for about $30500-$31,500. We drove the Highlander and forget about. It rides smooth, but it's small inside and ...

After owning one , great experience

by moralb , Oct 12 '05
Pros: Truly well designed top to bottom. Excellent sound and MP3 rep.
Cons: We need an hybrid soon Subaru. No Hitch , trailer accesories
This goes against the theorists that talk and talk but have not actually owned one. This is a review for a fully loaded 7 seat (ok, 5 3/4)champagne Tribeca.. love the color, very elegant. So lets begin with what clearly everyone complains about. ...

Not great
by honestcharlie ,Jan 04 '07
Pros: Nice looking. Does great in bad weather.
Cons: Horrible gas mileage, lots of bells and whistles that do nothing.
My wife wanted this vehicle over the Nissan and others. Subaru made a great deal and we leased it for substantially less than a comparative vehicle from Nissan. I now know the reason. It gets such horrible gas mileage in the city you spend the extra money on fuel. Dealer says this is the way they are. We don't need 4 wheel drive and 2 wheel drive is unavailable. Once they make you have 4 wheel drive can't they put a selector to use 2 wheel drive to save gas? The low tire pressure light is always on unless the tire pressure is perfect. We live with it on or would have to add small amounts of air weekly.

It is a Subie...sorta
by alicia68 ,Jan 16 '06
Pros: It is a Subaru. Great handling and plenty of power. Nice styling.
Cons: Needs memory seats for the price you pay.
I have owned almost every kind of make and model the Japan makers can build. I have had the best luck with Subaru. My 2005 Forester has been great. My wife decided she didn't like her car (a Honda minivan), so we looked around. She liked the Tribeca and they were offering great deals. She loves it. It handles like all Subarus, but it has MUCH more. The engine is pretty powerful compared to her minivan. It has plenty of room. It is a lot nicer than any other Subaru. It is a step above. Normally, you buy Subaru for its abilities and mechanical quality, not for its other qualities. However, this car has great looks and a nice interior. We did opt for the 5 seater. The 7 seater is not really a 7 seaters. That is a big lie.

2006 Subaru B9 Tribeca
by kmartin457 ,Jun 23 '05
Pros: Upscale; quiet, smooth; responsive; leg/hip room; VDC, airbags standard; multiple seating configurations
Cons: H6 3.0 struggles on long inclines; third row entry/exit OK for small kids
This car fits my needs very nicely, with plenty of leg and lateral room in the first two rows, a quiet, smooth ride, unique looks, and all the amenities and options of a much more expensive SUV. The entry-exit is much lower and easier than comparably-sized vehicles, although you do sit up high enough to have a very good view of traffic. The driver controls are very user-friendly and easily accessible. The smoothly shifting and peppy H6 engine can supposedly do 0-60 in 8-something seconds, and does very well getting on the freeway and in passing. It could use a bit more power on steep inclines, however. Sport mode (extra "oomph" for auto tranny) and manual shifting capabilities are a plus. VDC (vehicle dynamics control) and independent suspension also a bonus for driver and passengers alike.

Subaru has done a very good job of designing a model that will compete well with anything in this size as well as any upscale mid-size SUV. Drive one, and you won't want to give it back!

amazing
by kingjabo1 ,Sep 19 '06
Pros: Everything, It's truely amazing
Cons: no direct mp3 hook up
This vehicle is one of a kind. At first i wasn't crazy about the styling, now I feel nothing compares. If you drive one you will buy one. I have owned a Mercedes E350, volvo s60, Audi A4, and about 15 Volkswagens. There is nothing that drives like this vehicle. I cant understand the bad reviews. I guess people cant understand the styling which is very European. Most people must be used to their dodges and Fords. Actually I would hope those people would give bad styling reviews, because anyone who could say one of those vehicles where innovative I wouldnt want to be associated with them anyway. But here is the deal, if you want an awesome winter vehicle that will outperform anything in it's class buy the subaru. I am not pro Subaru, actually I never even liked them. I drove this vehicle and bought it and have no regrets. Every day it gets better if thats even possible. We each have our own tastes and I'm sure the styling isn't for everyone. Thats the best part of this vehicle!!!!! There is nothing like it.

Love the New Look
by b-moretroy ,Dec 11 '05
Pros: Price, Styling, Options, and Safety
Cons: Engine could have been larger
Love the new look of Subaru; the B9 especially because it is distinguishable from all the others (SUV's) on the road. I am especially to enjoying the time between now and when the streets are crawling with them. The large tires and the duel exhaust really set this car off. I purchased the 7 passenger limited with every option but the DVD System. As for the 3rd row seat; Subaru made the 2nd row seat adjustable which if 2nd row is moved forward there is enough room for small children. Suggestions to Subaru Future model years should include auto locking doors, driver seat memory, and NAV System should be shaded a little more for sunning daytime driving.

This is an amazing aircraft !
by aminj ,Jul 06 '08
Pros: Excellent design, strong, powerful, safe and incredibly smooth!
Cons: It is not good in gas like other SUVs!
I got this two months ago and enjoyed it very much. It is strong, powerful, safe and incredibly smooth on the road.
I love its high tech design that looks much better than pictures posted on-line. As a matter of fact exterior design of 2006 and 2007 model is much better than 2008. Tribeca has lots of fun things inside. Even the basic model has lots of features. Subaru never uses cheap stuff. Subaru Tribeca B9 is built of quality material, looks like SUV, drives like a sedan and you feel the difference when you drive other SUVs just to compare!
