Pros: Power, transmission, gearing, brakes, AWD system, handling, practicality, completeness of package Cons: No wagon in the USA, boy racer styling, I can't really think of any! The Bottom Line: A complete supercar that outdoes the big boys on public roads yet manages to be more practical, cost far less and be more reliable.
A childhood friend of mine who is also a hardcore enthusiast recently bought a 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STI. This has been a long in coming deal ever since I turned him on to turbocharged Subarus when I let him try my forester XT over 2 years ago. ...

Pros: Excellent all-weather performance and handling, especially considering the price Cons: Rear seat room, insurance cost, styling not the best The Bottom Line: Always a fun car to drive, the 2006 WRX handles better and rides more quietly.
Before I bought my current car, a Mazda Protege5, I considered buying a Subaru Impreza WRX wagon. But there were things I didn't care for, aside from a much higher price. The WRX wasn't an attractive car. Especially not in wagon form, where there has ...

Pros: Roomy, functional, handles well. SAFE!!!!! I can't stress that enough!! Cons: Needs more interior 'storage' space. cigarette lighter fuse blows on occasion for some reason. The Bottom Line: It is a GREAT bargain for anyone! A lot of car for a little money!
We were finally in the market for a new car, due to absolute frustration with our 'lot' of cars in the driveway. Our eldest daughter was transfering up to Champlain College in Vermont, and we knew we needed a reliable all wheel drive vehicle to make that ...

Pros: Throaty flat-four motor, neutral handling, excellent traction, high value, superb suspension Cons: Outdated interior and transmission, goofy styling The Bottom Line: If you can overlook the outdated interior, I recommend this car for its standard safety features, AWD, and excellent handling. Get the stick-shift, though.
With a new mortgage, a new baby on the way, and a wife due to quit her job soon, I was faced with a painful choice: Drain our savings account, or sell the Lexus and get a very, very cheap car. I chose the latter option. This was the first car search ...

Pros: Handling, acceleration, AWD, appearance, small wagon practicality Cons: Road noise, fuel economy, no iPod input, insurance cost The Bottom Line: Affordable performance, AWD capability and day to day practicality make the Impreza WRX wagon tough to beat.
The competition I car shopped intensively for about three months, and considered a wide range of cars including the VW Rabbit, Mazda3, Audi A3, Mini Cooper S and Scion tC. I finally concluded, however, that the WRX wagon is the best overall compromise ...

Pros: fast, looks, AWD, fun, racing-feeling/dollar ratio is awesome Cons: gas costs a fortune, automatic almost $30k, more likely to get speeding tickets The Bottom Line: This car is awesome, and I love it. It's fast, sporty-looking... AWD makes it safe in snow/rain... WRX indeed is so much fun to drive. I love this car.
-Second draft- I love the WRX. Whenever I look at it, many phrases come to mind: "Wow", "Yeah!", "Let's Go!", "Fast and Furious", "Woooooo Hoooooo!!" I bought my 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX automatic Limited just before Xmas of 2005. Personally, i ...

Pros: Sporty looks, All Wheel Drive, Interior Space Cons: Noisy Engine, Seats The Bottom Line: Good value for the money, but not for everyone. If you want soft and quiet, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a fun car, then check it out.
First off, let me say that my other car is a 2006 BMW 325i, so the bar is set pretty high for me. I say this because, while not quite up to the performance standards of a BMW, the Subaru does offer very good driving excitement for a lot less money! ...

Pros: AWD, easy handling, fun to drive, good standard features, good safety ratings Cons: sound system, rear seat space
I bought this car in August '06. I was looking at Jettas and Corollas, but the Impreza was way more fun to drive and had better standard features. Also, the Jetta has an awkward middle console and I felt I sat too high in the Corolla. I didn't go for the WRX because it cost much more, and insurance rates were significantly higher. I was drawn to the body style, safety and reliability of this Subaru. Also, the AWD is great to have on a sedan, especially in the snow. This may sound superficial, but the car is a bit noisy to me when it accelerates. I also wish this car had an mp3 jack that came standard--this seems like something to me that all cars (even basic models!) should have now. I'm extremely happy with my decision to purchase this car, however, I'm not impressed by the sound system...I feel like my speakers will blow if I turn them up past volume 20. If this is important to you, I'd recommend the stereo/speaker upgrade. Overall, for this echelon of cars, it's a great value.

Pros: Handling. Seats. AWD. Quality of manufacture. Ride. Controls. Cons: Looks rather average. Slightly harder on gas than conventional front wheel drive vehicles
Nice car. Good handling in both dry and snowy conditions. Well placed controls. Price reasonable. Seats very nice with lots of lumbar support. Quality of manufacture seems very good. Nice to own something on the road that's a bit different from the norm.. Shifts well. Visibility good. Ride firm and controlled. Appreciate the AWD in adverse weather conditions. Only complaint - slightly harder on gas than a conventional front wheel drive.

Pros: All Wheel Drive, reliable, low end power/torque, fun to drive! Cons: Stock stereo sucks, drive by wire throttle
This is my first new car, after two years I still love driving it. The 5sp manual helps alot, plenty of tourque in 1st and 2nd gear, starts to run out of oomph about halfway through 3rd but if speed is that important spring for the WRX. I regreted not getting the turbo until recently when the gas prices went crazy, I average about 25 mpg in city/highway, which isnt bad with the 2.5 liter boxer engine(providing that torque) and the all wheel drive.
This car sounds great with the flat four cylinder boxer at high revs, and handles really well stock. I've already got 17" wheels and hp tires and I'm planning on lowering springs and strut/sway bars to better the handling even more soon.--lots of aftermarket parts available.
Note that if you're planning to put a turbo on a 2.5i, its MUCH cheaper to just buy a WRX.
Overall I love the car and will probably keep it for a long time. Snow makes me smile and getting stuck anywhere is a distant memory, Subaru has the most advanced and well tested AWD system out there. Two years without a single problem, highly recommended.

Pros: Power, All wheel drive. Cons: very cheaply built interior.noisy and rough engine.Sloppy gear shift. sound system sucks.
I leased this car after a quick test drive. It was a snowy day in Montreal and the car felt so safe with the added traction of all wheel drive. I have had the car for a month now and I am starting to regret my purchase. I had to drive to Toronto and back within 24 hours and I was so tired. The seats are very narrow and after a few hours your legs start to feel uncomfortable. The engine growl which is exciting on test drives drives you nuts when youre on an open highway. The radio and the speakers are junk! And the car feels so light on open stretches of roads. It simply not built for long distance driving. I wish I had listened to my VW dealer and gone for another VW Jetta. I miss the solid handling, excellent steering feedback, the great interior, those stiff but so comfy seats and the 8 speaker sound system that all came as standard.

Pros: engine, 4 wheel drive, uniqueness Cons: rear seat could be a bit roomier.
my son just picked up his new wrx limited. i must say i am impressed with this car. the fit and finish is excellent. the styling is different and classy. he has the limited which included heated leather seats, and moonroof, plus a few other goodies. the engine is improved 2.5 litre this yr with more hp and torque. this car flys , i bought him a radar detector. i hope he is careful with this car because it is easy to speed in this suby. the all wheel drive and handling is excellent and the guys at subaru put out a fine product that will outperform a mustang gt and get better mileage . and when the weather is wet its no contest this car is superior in that too. i would highly recommend anyone looking for a nice smaller car for not crazy money and bang for the buck, to consider the wrx.

Pros: Great car, Great CAR!! Cons: shetty! WARRANTY AND SERVICE!
Oh boy!, well i bought my STi last febuary and it is an 06 and i had a transmission failure no fault of mine but the dealership decided to make it my fault~~!!! They blamed it on my aftermarket brakelines behind my wheels??? I ended up paying $2,800 to get it re-built anyways, moving on.
I just recently slid into a curb on some sand a month ago and it took them 2 weeks to get the parts and 3 days to put everything on. and another week for them to confirm everything with my insurance!!! total $3,479!! woopie!
THEY NEVER CALLED ME TO GIVE ME UPDATES AND THEY NEVER FIXED ANYTHING ELSE THAT I ASKED THEM TO SO NOW I HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK AGAIN FOR MORE REPAIRS, ANOTHER MONTH!!! THIS WAS AT BOTH SUBARU OF DALLAS, AND SUBARU OF PLANO.
there in one place that really takes care of me as a customer and that is subaru of huffines.
P.S. it took them 2 1/2 months to fix my transmission!!!
