2006 Toyota Tundra Limited Double Cab vs. 2004 Sierra

by grizwoman

Pros: Nice leather, moon roof is good, filter on windshield washer fluid, cab doesn't suck dust.
Cons: Gas guzzler;low towing capacity at a maximum speed of 45mph, handles poorly when loaded!
The Bottom Line: Do not buy it if you want to: put more than three 150 pound people plus much of anything in the pick-up, or if you tow anything over 45 mph!

Approximately every 2 years we trade in our 4x4 truck for a new one. We bought 4 Suburbans,a Yukon XL, and then a 2004 Sierra. Facing the raising gas prices and after reading a well known consumer review magazine (which rated our Sierra very poorly), we ...

best truck I've owned

Pros: No propaganda or truth-stretching from Toyota. More important, NO SURPRISES!
Cons: Definitely an expensive truck. It's worth it, though.
The Bottom Line: Outstanding truck.

Now keep in mind, I've only had it for about a year. No one (NO ONE) can speak to the reliability of a vehicle in one year. What I can say is, so far, it's the best truck I've ever had. Which trucks have I owned you ask? I have had several fords ...

Pros: power, room, comfort, and quality
Cons: nothing
everything about the truck is solid. it drives like a sports car. i have not maxed it out but it will go past a 100mph with ease. this thing has plenty of power. it has more room inside than i will ever need. i just like knowing i have the room if i ever need it. it has storage for days on the inside. this thing has eight cup holders inside. who will ever use eight cup holders? the electric back glass is a really nice feature. the seats are very comfortable. i have cloth interior cause i hate leather. i also have the bucket seats instead of the bench seat. the bucket seats have flip down armrest that are very nice. and the rear seats are stow and go. i also like the fact that the tailgate locks. cause i have heard of people taking other peoples tailgates cause theirs got dented. anyways, great truck overall!

Pros: Toyota quality. Very smooth. Power rear window.
Cons: Turning radius. Stereo on SR5 is just OK
I bought a 2006 Tundra double cab. I really like it so far. The long wheel base is a bit of a disadvantage, but it drives very smoothly. I especially like the power rear window. With it down, you get so much air flow, you think you are in a convertible.

Pros: Lots of power and very quiet inside.
Cons: Not quite as roomy as a full size.
After driving a 1996 Dodge Ram1500 with 218,000 miles I decided I needed a truck. The truck fells like a sports car compared to the Dodge. The power is great and it is so quiet compared to my old Dodge. The only thing I can complain about is I found a small dent in the rear bumper that I did not notice on delivery and I can't seem to get any help out of South Coast Toyota.I love the truck so far and I'm hoping to resolve the dent problem with the dealer, check your new truck very well before leaving after spending hours at the dealer you feel like getting out of there but take time to check and note any dings it will save you a real run-around from the dealer.

2996 Tundra Access Cab vs 1996 Silverado Regular Cab

Pros: Tight feeling, size is what i liked as well.
Cons: Poor gas consumption, large turning radius, transmission shifts too much in cruise control.
I've got about 5,000 miles on the Tundra, so far I like it.

But it is not the truck my Chevy (purchased new) was. The gas mileage is poor, the turning radius is not as good, and the transmission in cruise continuously changes gears.

I favored the Tundra because of size and body style. To me the other pickups all have the big (too big) boxy look. Even the 2007 Tundra has that same look.

I missed the deadline for ordering the Chevy Classic body style or I would be driving one now.

I am crossing my fingers that gas consumption will get better as the dealer promises.

Pros: rear power window, roomy, smooth ride
Cons: none!
I got the Tundra Limited Double Cab last year and LOVE it. I have no complaints! Heated leather seats are awesome, the a/c kicks in really quick, LOVE LOVE LOVE the rear power window (use it almost everyday), kids have plenty of room in the back, sound system is great and love controls on the steering wheel.
