Pros: toasts!!!!! cool features Cons: Expensive, not really big enough for most bagels
I finally found it!!!! It is a toaster I can write home about! Okay, if you have read any of my reviews lately, you might know that I have been on a toaster quest. Toasters these days are made extremely cheaply and dont seem to have any ...

Stop Setting Off My Smoke Alarm!!
by cambridgejen ,Dec 06 '06
Pros: Ummm I can see my reflection in it? Cons: It burns my toast (and I am an accomplished cook, I swear.)
Until my boyfriend moved in this year, I always believed that toast is toast. You put a piece of bread in the toaster, push the lever, and it pops up when it's done.
Not so.
In the world of flashy stainless-steel toasters, toasting bread is much more glamorous and mysterious. Instead of a lever, there's a dial that makes you guess the appropriate setting. If you set it to the recommended setting, your toast will come out black and charred. If you try to work around that and set it at a lower setting, the toast may continue toasting indefinitely, until the smoke alarm notices and wakes up the entire neighborhood.
I'm sure that there's a secret to making decent toast with this thing, but I haven't found it. All I know is that my perfectly functional $10 toaster is long gone, and this one is taking up twice the room but ruining my toast every weekend. If you have any sense about you, you'll keep shopping for something that really works.

Excellent Toaster
by threepio ,Dec 08 '06
Pros: Excellent style, construction and simple functionality. Great for doing LOTS of toast. Cons: It is big.
This is stylish, and consistently makes great toast. It will likely last a lifetime unlike lost appliances similar. I have read a lot of reviews here slamming this unit, but I think the users have something to do with the problems honestly (like not knowing what the big red switch on the front of the toaster is for, or claiming that it burns toast, even in the skilled hands of an "accomplished cook". Nonsense.

Dualit Toaster Not the Dualit of Old
by fairness1 ,Apr 14 '07
Pros: Looks nice just like Dualits used to. Cons: Overpriced, deceptively labeled, a product of questionable origin.
This toaster is said to be "hand assembled in England". In fact the one I bought stated on the bottom "made in England". However, after a couple of months the timer failed. Upon inspection of the timer I was shocked to see it was clearly labeled "made in China". Further investigation of this extremely expensive toaster has led me to conclude that it is "assembled in the U.K." from parts that include China. Buy a cheap toaster that states obviously that its "made in China" and save yourself the grief. This toaster is not what it seems to be.

what a disappointment!
by dieselle ,Jun 24 '06
Pros: design Cons: many
i waited to receive this as a 'big' gift for my 50th birthday and i wish that i had chosen another item. despite the fabulous design, this toaster was not worth the price or the wait. it looks gorgeous on my counter but it has a noisy timer, toasts unevenly and sometimes, not at all on one side. the chrome does not clean well the ghosts of water streaks have become part of the finish. it is very difficult to clean and i just hate it.

archaic for 2006
by linmar1 ,Aug 26 '06
Pros: Nice looking on the counter in red and chrome Cons: Too problematic to recommend
I got this toaster for my husband's birthday because it looked like a "professional" toaster that might be found in restaurants or good hotels. It was a disappointment and I would not recommend it.
There is a dial on the bottom right hand side that must be turned to warm up the heating elements on either side of the slots and often, one side will heat up but not the other so you wind up with one side of the bread toasted and the other not. And, although the slots are slightly larger than an average toaster, a normal half of a bagel will often get stuck.

Do you love only one side of your toast toasted? Buy this machine
by carlamaguire ,Apr 08 '07
Pros: Kinda pretty and toasts well when it actually toasts Cons: Half a slice toasted. Impossible to clean. Price.
I received this toaster as a Christmas gift. Um, can I return it? Four months later (and not that many slices of toast) this lovely piece of art is only toasting one side of the left slice of bread. Now I am of the ordinary opinion that toast should be toasted on both sides. I am a decent cook and I can toast bread and this toaster is of poor quality. Now I get the joy of sending it to New Jersey to be fixed!
