When I was in the market for some new amps for my car, I landed at the local high end audio shop. After many months of researching products I had virtually made up my mind on Xtant amps. The only thing holding me back was the high price. Then I discover...

Pros: Power regulated supply. Sound quality.
Cons: A bit pricey.

I had originally purchased another brand of amp. It was rated at 125 watts RMS. But after reading the owners manual, that ratings was at 14.4 volts. At a real life voltage rating of between 12 and 13.5 volts,...the watts RMS dropped to a measly 40 watts...

Pros: Loud, Clean, Power
Cons: Gets a wee bit hot after extended loud play

A very good amplifier. Loud, clean, sound. No distortion at high volumes. Very good crossover. It has numbers to help you better even out the level between your mids & subs. Went from a MTX blue thunder rated at 4X40 to this. Can't say the difference is night & day more like night & twilight. My ears can tell that the JL puts out more power with less distortion. I'm hard pressed to pick up any coloration coming from this amp.

Pros: Best sound. Nothing comes close. JL AUDIO is serious amplification.
Cons: . BAD warrantee and poor heat design.

I have MB Quarts in the front and back. The JL AUDIO 300/4 amp is the best sounding amp you can get. The speakers jump out with clarity and definition. The warmth of piano can be felt. Stick definition from the ride cymbal almost penetrates to your brain... When dealing with JUST sound quality, this IS your amp.
Issues I had: The amp overheated and had to be serviced. The amp then fried again due to overheating. Better design and a fan would help alleviate this egregious design. For the money it should be backed with a real warrantee. The one provided is a joke. Its a shame the amp is so good sounding and has no peer. I hate the fact I will be buying another one.

Pros: Looks, power, durability
Cons: None that I have seen.

I've been a car audio buff for years and always had good experience with JL Audio subwoofers but never had one of their amplifiers. When I bought my last car I wanted to do it right and amplify the speakers as well as the subwoofer. I bought the 300/4 and was completely blown away with not only the sound quality but the sheer power of it. Listening to music in my car now rivals my home system! The amp has got great features (see review above) and has a nice clean look with set-screw power terminals that accept up to 4 gauge wire.

You have to use this wisely though, at high volumes you can seriously damage your hearing! Coupled with a 500/1 amp for my subs my car audio system is incredible!

Pros: Extremely clear mids and highs, runs cool
Cons: Make sure it is installed and set up properly -- complicated

Bought my wife a new Lexus RX330 recently. Lexus offers a great Mark Levinson 11-speaker system as an option, BUT you also have to buy the NAV system and other expensive add-ons that increase the car's cost by $7,000 or more.

The base stereo in this beautiful car has 8 speakers, including two woofers in the rear door, but the sound was terrible, suitable only for listening to talk radio. We left the factory head unit and rear door speakers in place and had HiFi Buys install the JL Audio 300/4 amp and two MB Quart 6.5" PCE216s in the front door.

We are not audiophiles, but both of us were stunned at the results. Not only do the MB Quarts sound great, but the remaining factory speakers sound better as well. We sat in the car for an hour last night listening to everything from ZZ Top to classical music and everything sounded natural and super clean.

Now the sound system is the equal of the rest of the car -- I plan to go back and listen to Mark Levinson again, think we're equal or better now.

Pros: Powerful, Durable, and Transparent.
Cons: I don't think so.

This amp is what other only dream to be. Without a doubt this is a competition level amp. You will find this amp exact and absolutely transparent. It's extremely durable, runs cool, and delivers more than expected of it.
