Easy to order, great prices, so-so customer service

We purchased a Broan range hood and Sharp microwave trim kit from AJ Madison. From order to ship took about three weeks as at least one of the items wasn't in stock (though I believe their site said "in stock" when I ordered). Both items arrived in good shape. Customer service wasn't overly warm when I called to inquire about my order status during week three, but they did answer my questions and tell me when the order would be shipped. I was disappointed that they didn't send an update via email after the order was placed to let us know it would take several weeks. Thankfully, we had built that time into our plans. Their prices were lower than competitors and we took advantage of the Father's Day discount which amounted to the cost of shipping.

Absolutely lousy customer service.

After an initial phone call about the orders, there has been no response or follow-up. After 4 weeks I still have not received my orders and after numerous attempts have not even heard from them as to the status.
I am truly annoyed with this company and would recommend never to use them.

I recently, and very easily, purchased an item from AJ Madison based on a description posted by Dealtime that ended up being wrong. Once AJ Madison heard of the mistake and learned that I was unable to use the product and needed to return it they were very cooperative and efficient in resolving the matter. They were also very conscientious in following up with Dealtime to clear up the false advertising that led to my erroneous purchase.
I was very upset by the ordeal, but Irving at AJ Madison was more than helpful and put me at ease with the situation. Pleasant service.

waste of time

Ordered the item through Amazon.com. Then looked at their web site and it said item was discontinued. Called and was assured it would be delivered. Credit card was charged the same day.
Notified 4 days later item was out of stock.
They are still advertising directly and through amazon.com here and on all of the other price check web site that they have the item at a very low price.

Placed order for microwave oven on 8/2 and received confirmation. Tracking showed "Pending" for over a week. Finally called AJ Madison and could not get a reason why it had not been shipped. On 8/12 received email:
"Amana has back-ordered this item for months, we therefore, canceled the item,
so you should not have to wait.
We are sorry for the inconvenience. Your card has not been charged.
Thanks.
Irving"
I'm now looking for another vendor and microwave--Amana no longer lists the advertised model AJ Madison is selling.

Very dissatisfied with AJ Madison. Ordered a refrigerator from them. They gave me the delivery date. One week later it arrived with dents on all four sides. The problem began when they shipped it to a city nearly 500 miles from our home and said a local shipper would deliver it to us. The woman thought we were a suburb of a city 480 miles away. Then an attempt was made to deliver it to us, but they called the wrong phone number, that had been corrected by me about 4 times. Then they hauled it back to a city about 150 miles away where it sat for 5 days before it was delivered in its dented condition. The company did give us a $50.00 refund on a bill of over $800.00.

Extremely happy with customer service, product and delivery. Ordered a Maytag range from one of those "super stores..HD..get it?" who delivered & dropped/damaged it right in front of my driveway & asked if I still wanted it if they gave me discount! I flatly refused and later received a call that it was out of stock and the earliest "possible" delivery was two weeks later! I had a big Easter party coming and could not wait. I called AJ Madison, spoke to Allan who said they had one in stock. I placed the order March 26 and it was delivered the next day. The range was in excellent condition and delivery was flawless professional. Thank you and I will be back!

a complete nightmare to do business with

After reading all the reviews for this company and attempting to resolve my own issue with AJ Madison, I'm beginning to think the positive reviews are written by their own employees.
In short, their customer service dept. is on par with their cheap prices. I never received the item I purchased, so I cannot attest to the quality, however after dealing with the ineptness of their customer service staff, I can say with certainty that you are better off avoiding the hassle of purchasing through this company.
Lucky for me my work allows me to critique online retailers and warn consumers that their money is better spent elsewhere.
Not only is AJ Madison one of the worst online companies I have attempted to work with, they severely lack the willingness to amend a problem.
They may offer cheaper prices, but in this case you definitely get what you pay for.
This company is not worth the few hundred dollars you may save.

The worst online store ever. I tried an air conditioner online and the man who picked up the phone sounded very rude. I tried to explain what i wanted when he placed me on hold for a couple minutes. Then we started chatting with him again and he seemed to be yelling at someone in the background. I do not know what kind of business these guys are running, but I would not trust these guys whatsoever. You would be foolish to purchase something fom this site. Dont let the site's good look fool you, I would rather go buy from Amazon or another appliance store. I would never do business with a person who does not treat his customers with a little more important, respect and courtesy. Avoid these unprofessional people!!!

Oh my goodness...are you kidding??!! These guys are like the best. I found the items I wanted on line and got assistance over the phone with ordering. It was fast and simple and you couldn't beat the prices! I ordered it one day and they wanted to deliver the next but I was not ready for delivery until the next Monday. I called it in on Wednesday and they wanted to deliver on Thursday. Talk about fast service. I was thoroughly thrilled with this fast service. The only thing I had a little problem with was getting someone either on the phone for further assistance with some questions or by email. A few days went by before I got an email response. Other than that everything was fantastic.

Stay far,far away from AJ Madison

With all the great retailers out there (i.e. P.C. Richards, Best Buy, Sears,ETC) There is ablsolutely no reason whatsoever to subject yourself to the disrespect and aggravation of AJ Madison.
Without going into all the gory deatails of my last and final transaction with them, think about this:
Do you want to buy an appliance(s), be given a delivery date and have it changed numerous times without being notified?
Do you want rude and indifferent customer service? Odd operating hours and closed on weekends?
Ripped off on delivery and installation fees only to be told you need another part that's extra, and unless you argue about it will have to pay for it?
Wait weeks for your appliance, then watch as they try to weasel out of installing it even after paying to install it.
Using a mickey mouse trucking outfit (owned by AJ Madison) who's drivers will try to weedle beer money out of you if you let them.
If you want to be treated like this, THEN you go to AJ madison.
Otherwise there are many other national, regional and local reatailers who will do a far better job then these schmucks will ever do. Look at the reviews,and see for yourself!

I bought an Amana Stainless Steel range from AJ. This was the first time I had made a major purchase over the internet and was nervous. The stove arrived quickly and was a great deal! I saved hundreds of dollars buying it from AJ Madison and from the internet purchase to the friendly delivery guy all has gone smoothly. I have already recommended AJ to friends.

Terrible, unresponsive customer service.

After I placed an order for thousands of dollars' worth of appliances, the online order tracking didn't have any information about the status of my order for over a week. So I called, and spent more than an hour on hold waiting to speak to a customer service representative. And when I did speak to one, she put me on hold and never came back. I never got any information, and finally I just had to give up. I'm not in the process of trying to cancel my order.
This is the kind of service I can expect when I'm dropping $4000 at your store? Never again.

I was expecting some problems, due to the huge savings over major department stores, but I was pleasantly surprised! The items were available for delivery before the scheduled date, everything was correct, customer service was extremely quick in responding to any questions I had. One item was defective when we received it, but that is being covered by the manufacturers warranty so AJ Madison doesn't really have anything to do with that, and it's being taken care of anyhow.

Overall, the shopping experience was very good.
Regarding the product itself: I find that the refrigerator emits a unpleasant rubbery smell (whether plugged in or uplugged) which I hope will fade in time.

AJ Madison provided an excellent online shopping purchase. We made a very large purchase and were a little worried about how it would work out. We checked them out with the BBB and found them to have a good rating so we gave them a shot. It worked out great for us. Their online site was excellent, they had lots of products to choose from, offered a nice dicount vs other suppliers and we got our shipment in perfect condition faster than we expected. I'm telling everyone to shop at AJ Madison.

The only complaint I have is that I haven't received my delivery yet. It's been picked up at the warehouse as of 7/29 but I have no way of finding out what day they will be delivering. Very hard to make arrangements to be home upon delivery!!!

I didn't need to contact the merchant, but contacted the delivery company. Their quality of customer service was "fair", as I called to reconfirm delivery after the confirmed date came/went without receipt of product. They apparently had a change in "shippers" and didn't call to notify us that the delivery was going to be delayed. We'd scheduled to have someone available to receive the delivery, as we'd purchased 8 refrigerators.

My item was on backorder for about 2 weeks, but was then available exactly when they had said it would be. I was only disappointed that I was not coantacted earlier to arrange for a delivery that would have been more convenient for me. I was contacted the evening before they made the delivery & was unable to make arrangements to take the day off to be there as I had wanted to be.

It took 9 working days for the appliances to leave Madison's shipping dock, and now a full 30 days after the order was placed the freight carrier still has not delivered the goods. Now I know why they offer free shipping! That's what it's worth! Horrible transaction.

I ordered a coin operated washer and dryer for apartments I own and a stove for another apt. I had made it very clear when I ordered the apliances that the washer and dryer were to go to one address and the stove to another. When the delivery was attempted I was told that all 3 appliances had to be left at my address. I had to refuse the washer and dryer. I called to see if they could be rerouted but was told they could not be. I tried calling AJ Madison. NO ANSWER- NO CALL BACK -NOT VERY INTERESTED IN THE CUSTOMER!
