So there I was, sitting in front of the computer, looking for really low fares to Florida. Were traveling on December 11th to Orlando from Rochester, New York. We found the lowest fare on AirTran as it was an unbeatable price. I checked Delta and US ...

I like discounts. I like cheap travel. Give me a discount on already cheap travel and I'm in heaven. So it was I found myself visiting AirTran.com. I wanted to fly from Boston to Philadelphia and had some very specific time constraints. I found an ...

I'm surprised to read the negative reviews. Over the past three months, I have made eight trips with AirTran and have never experienced a delay longer than thirty minutes or negative customer service. Their fares are always reasonable and I have ...

Not the worst experience, but close. Flew AirTran on the return leg of a Denver-Rochester trip, the outbound leg of which was on JetBlue. Maybe it's only the contrast to JetBlue, but the whole approach to customer service on AirTran seems wildly out of ...

My wife and I were forced to extend our stay in Orlando, FL. Do to the fact, AirTran canceled our flight and had to place us on another Flight 24 hrs later, when we reconfirmed our return trip. AirTran informed us, our Flight had been canceled and the ...

The price is the only good thing about Airtran. If Southwest flew into La Gaudia there is no way I would ever consider Airtran. Their employees on the ground are rude unhelpful and downright arrogent. We flew to New york via Atlanta where our flight was ...

This airline has the worst customer service of any airline I have used. The online services were fine, but the reduced price was not worth it. My flight was severely delayed because they couldn't get the computer running. While I was waiting, I asked ...

I recently flew on AirTran through Atlanta. At the start of the trip I sat on the tarmac for 3 hours, the excuse was rain in Atlanta. So I missed the connection in Atlanta. The ticket counter in Atlanta told me I was on standby for a flight in a ...

Reduce the hassle and save $$$ with AirTran
by mperloe ,Jul 27 '04
Airtran Online services is the best way to find a low fare to where you want to travel. In addition to $35 upgrades to first class, even in coach you fly in brand new planes, the youngest fleet in the air. AirTran offers low fares without sacrificing service such as assigned seats, online boarding passes and check-in kiosks. AirTran's frequent flyer program is the fastest easiest way to free travel. Don't worry about how many miles you fly. They award points for each trip and extra points if you upgrade to business class. And, with Airtran, you never need to purchase a round trip ticket to get a great fare. I definitely recommend you check out AirTran and join their AplusRewards program at www.airtran.com

AirTran: spotty performance & bad at its worst
by s0l0m0n ,Jan 23 '07
Although the staff was adequate on some flights, I am reminded of a nightmare flight attendant by the numerous Jan. 23 news articles about 2 parents and their 3-year old daughter who were thrown off a flight from Ft. Myers because the child would not stop crying.
Several years before, we were thrown off a flight by a flight attendant who claimed she had absolute power to do so and told me that if I said one more word, she would throw us off the plane, the departure of which was delayed while awaiting the flight crew. I was neither loud nor belligerent.
The ground staff apologized and placed us in Business Class on the next flight; but the arbitrary treatment was highly inappropriate.
Would be interested in learning whether others have had experience with similar behavior by AirTran employees.

Worst airline experience
by rickshawboy ,Aug 09 '07
Airtran customer service is beyond rude, and racist too. The airline is simply not worth flying ever. Everyone at ticketing, at the gates and the phone "customer service" (specifically in Atlanta) was rude. I dealt with four airtran representatives that looked at me and practically snarled when I approached with a question. You can forget about any actual help with an issue. I've never been treated so rudely in my life and my pregnant wife feels the same. They treated her like garbage even knowing her condition. We travel by plane multiple times a week so we have a lot of experience with all of the airlines, so trust me when I say STAW AWAY!

horrible "lost" ticket policy
by rulethirty ,Dec 21 '04
I've seen this many times over now from others online, so I know it's not just me..
I never recieved my tickets from my online purchase. I called AirTran customer service to inquire. They told me in order to get a refund, I had to mail them the lost tickets. If you can't see the irony with this, then maybe you should apply for AirTran customer service.
It is now the day of my travel arrangement, I have no ticket, and they want me to buy another ticket instead. I've used AirTran since back wehn they were valuejet. After the rudeness I've encountered with this situation, I'm switching to Independence Air (flyi.com) from now on.

Lost ticket problem
by debragusra ,Nov 02 '04
I booked two tickets and never received them prior to my travel. I had a confirmation number so when I went to the counter, the airline agent told me that the confirmation was not good and that I must purchase two new tickets. She also made me pay a $50 lost ticket fee which is non-refundable.
This happened in June 2004, it is now November 2004 and I have yet to get a response or credit on my credit card. I have made several calls and sent several emails and faxes trying to get them to respond and they have yet to do so.
I will never use this service again.
Beware! they have $600 of my money.

Poor service bordering on fraud
by beaudot_dt1 ,Feb 19 '06
Terrible experience trying to use their points. I was led to believe the flight I was trying to take was available, so I transferred a bunch of points over from my Amex, but when I went to use them, no flights were available. The customer service agents were awful.

The WORST in customer service
by dianetuff ,Dec 31 '08
I will never book Airtran again. I booked a flight for 6 people, to arrive in New Orleans by 9 am. One week before my scheduled flight they decided to change my flight with a 4 hour layover in Atlanta, not to arrive in NO until 1:15p.m. Negating any plans I had made for tours and brunch for my early morning arrival. They might have had decent prices, (not the best) I initially picked airtran because it worked with my plans; they have completely ruined this event. This is the second time they have done this and I will never use this airline, they are not worth the stress. I have no problem spending double the amount of money at another airline that treats their customers the right way, professional and courteous. Airtran needs lots of training when it comes to customer satisfaction, if they could possibly figure out what that means. If Airtran goes bankrupt, they can thank their great customer service people.
