Poor Customer Support from Manufacturer
by sndsing ,Nov 18 '03
Pros: Small, lightweight and reasonably priced. Cons: Disposable. Manufacturer will not support warranty if bought prior to 6/03.
The size & portability of the product is what led us to purchase the tripod. With time, the tilt function started to slip, leaving the camera or camcorder to slowly drop forward. Basically leaving us with lovely footage of the ground in front of the tripod.
We inquired about the warranty service with Ambico,a Recoton Inc product recently (June 2003) acquired by Thomson Inc. (RCA, GE & More). After rounds of phone calls and misinformation, the final outcome is that if the product was purchased before their acquisition of the company, they will not honor the warranty. Basically, if you want a product whose manufacturer & current owner will stand behind it if it fails, this is not the product for you. OR the company to be doing business with. I'm thankful this was not an expensive piece of equipment!!
