WARNING! THEY WILL SELL YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION AND OVERCHARGE!! by arlighet ,Jun 22 '09
I bought some wallpaper from these guys a year ago. Just the other day I discover a $9 charge on my account from a certain "ENT*ENTERTAINMENTREWARDS", and realize it has been recurring every month for a whole year. In the past I dismissed the charge as a movie ticket, but recently I haven't seen any movies. I call them up, and guess what? They got my credit card information from American Blinds and Wallpaper when I made a purchase there. supposedly there's a deceptive link somewhere in their checkout forms, that if you click it, by mistake, you automatically get signed up for this service, even if you don't give them your credit card information or if you say "yes I want to subscribe to Entertainment rewards". you click this supposed link (i don't remember seeing it), and American Blind Wallpaper, will sell this other company all your personal information, including your home telephone, address, e-mail and credit card information. if you do a google search for "entertainment rewards" you'll find thousands of people that also have been fraudulently signed up with them through American blinds or Ticket master.
American Blind and Wallpaper is Horrible by hwojewljajjdkk ,Sep 14 '07
I'll spare you all of the grim details about my shopping experience with American Blind and Wallpaper; suffice to say that I will never buy anything from this company. After my debacle with American I bought from Blinds.com and ended up saving quite a bit of money and getting better quality blinds.
They advertise free ground shipping - and they don't! by pattycake2007 ,Jul 30 '07
The main problem here is they say free shipping and then they add a "handling fee" of $8.00 for some curtains weighing under a pound which is the normal cost of ground shipping. Just because you call shipping something else, doesn't mean you have free shipping!!! If you must buy from this site, complain about the fact they are misguiding their customers.
Additionally, I never received a confirmation email - not in my spam trap or anywhere. I later called and the woman on the phone was extremely nice, but she had alot of trouble finding the order. Then, because I ordered two different things, she had to contact two different shippers. She told me she would call me back about the second item which she could not trace. She never called back, but I received the item later.
Horrible Customer Service. Liars and Shysters. by neoisno1 ,May 03 '07
They sent the wrong border twice. After the second time (and second phone call), I called again and they informed me the manufacturer of the border had put the wrong number on it. They said they'd order the RIGHT border from the manufacturer and get it sent out right. I have no border. We call customer service to find out what's going on and they inform us the border I originally ordered didn't exist. We had the border and no. on their website on our computer screen as they tell us this. When we inform them of this, they scramble around and then say that it's out of print. OK, fine. We then tell them we want a refund. They say OK, but we keep 30% for re-shelving fees. Finally, after and hour, we get off the phone with them promising a FULL refund. We have yet to receive the refund.
Promised refund not extended and extra charge to order not stated up front by woswald ,Apr 12 '07
I ordered samples for $5, which was to generate a refund if I ordered. It didn't. So midway through my online order I had to finish up by phone, at which time I learned they would tack on an extra $7.50 "just because" fee. Tacky indeed. The person taking the order couldn't explain the reason for the extra charge, except that it applied to all online and phone orders.
The product was as ordered.
Very poor service. DO NOT recommend. by joooos ,Feb 08 '07
I had a very bad experience with American Blind. Shipment arrived two weeks after the date it was supposed to arrive. Their customer service never gets back to you no matter how often you send them an email (via their website). Their work hours are ridiculous (8am-6pm) which does not allow you to call unless while you are at work. They do not allow to return products, and if you were lucky enough to get a rep after waiting on line for 20 to 40 minutes (called them 4 times) - they are rude and transfer you from one department to another.
Not a good experience for a first time buyer. by imitch ,Jan 26 '07
At this date, I cannot give a review on the quality of my curtains, as it is going on two weeks and I have not received them. I ordered them on 1/19/07, and was told I would receive them via ups ground shipping within 3-4 days. Today I checked the status (1/25/07) as I still have not received them. The website stated they would be contacting the manufacturer and for me to call if I still had not received them. I called. I was asked to hold so the customer rep could call the manufacturer. Hmmm..., this had not been done? I was then told the company had ran out of fabric, but now my curtains were in the production phase, and would be mailed out on 1/29/07. I asked why I had not been emailed regarding this matter, and was told there was no way to get a hold of me? I have a feeling if I had never called your company would have never checked. There was no discount offered for my inconvenience. I don't think, I will be using this business again.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AFTER THE SALE, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!! by arkgardener ,Oct 30 '06
American Blinds and Wallpaper has the WORST customer service! Of the four pleated shades I purchased, two required repair within months of use. The pull cord came completely off the track and broke in half on one and the other shade has a defective string, so the blind rolls up and down crooked, causing the shade to pucker.
I emailed the company for a service request on 10/19/06 -- no reply. On 10/23/06 I called 800-575-8016 and was told a "blind specialist" would respond in 24-72 hours...never happened!
I had to call again on 10/30/06 and finally got a Return Goods Authorization after waiting on hold for almost 30 minutes.
Another issue about AB&W -- they charge an inflated interest rate for their credit card and then won't negotiate a lower interest rate with consumers. My credit rating is very good so I simply transferred the balance on my American Blinds card to another creditor and cancelled their card. And AFTER they received my payoff, they billed me an additional $15.00 because they claim I got a promotional rate in error on a previous purchase! WHAT A RIPOFF!!
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY PURCHASING ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!!!
Customer Service Nightmare! by sammyk5 ,Sep 19 '06
Defective blinds and NIGHTMARISH customer service! Someone answers the phone within minutes to take your order, but just try to reach customer service, I was on the phone for over an hour, after failing to receive a response to my e-mail request for customer service (which they encourage you to use while you're on hold). Buyers beware!!!
Their blinds are cheap and inferior. I'd never order another thing from them. by judith101 ,Jul 03 '06
Web site, sales personnel and prices are all great. The product is another story! I ordered 2 faux wood blinds. Both came with a defective lift mechanism, terribly cheaply made. When I called about them, I was told there was no refund on custom blinds. I feel as though I have thrown my money away! I hate when that happens!
Some products mediocre and worst service EVER by luvbichons ,May 09 '06
One of the blinds I ordered arrived broken. It took month of e-mails with pictures of the damage (with repeated resending) and additional phone calls to get it resolved. I got the runaround on phone calls (example: I am just a trainee and I will have to get someone to call you back. No one called, of course). I was requested to send the photos of the damage to a new person each time I resent. Then they sent me a new blind, and that was the WRONG size. I started the process all over again, and they told me I would have to wait until they reviewed the telephone records to see what I had reported (check out the e-mails please). Yesterday, they said they are sending me a new blind, once again. What are the odds that this too will be damaged and I will start all over again?
They Have My Money, but I Have No Blinds! by tlc00037 ,May 02 '06
I recently measured and ordered blinds. I am a contractor and have done this with other companies with no problems. I placed my order in mid April with an expected ship date of April 20. It's now May 2, and they still don't know when they will be shipped. Apparently the manufacturer didn't have the materials to make the blinds - no kidding. After reading reviews regarding their return and cancellation policies, I am terrified to even attempt this. I'm afraid I made a $1200 BLIND MISTAKE. I would definitely not recommend them.
I was tempted to order from American Blind's web page, but decided to call to get some assurance on sizing and pulley options for the vertical blinds we wanted. The service rep was initially patient, but ultimately anxious to get our credit card number. A specific concern we discussed was getting weighted free hanging pulleys for the drawstrings instead of screw-in tension pulleys. He said we could have these. The blinds arrived at the promised date. They look good and the quality is OK. They were shipped from Prestige Window Fashions in Edison NJ rather than MI (as another reviewer notes, I see now they are "drop shippers"). Unfortunately, the blinds came with tension pulleys. I called about getting the pulleys replaced and the customer rep said she'd have to call the shipper to see if the parts were available. She said the shipper did not have the part and that was that. So much for "100% Satisfaction Guaranteed".
Being a former employee of this company, it shows that a lot of customers have had bad experiences. This company has a terrible return policy and alot of people just don't know what their doing including management on up the chain. This company does not look out for it's employees and is only out to get and keep a customer's money. I would never recommend anyone to order from this company, I wouldn't even recommend that when I was working there. You are better to order from Home Depot or Lowes or any retailer the prices are very similar.
Very poor customer service by freewayuser ,Feb 07 '06
Customer service here is very poor. I ordered wallpaper that was back ordered. After finally having to cancel the order it took a two requests and a long time to get my credit back. I had previous instances where I have asked questions about their products and had never gotten replies. This should have been a warning.
