    Nov 26 '08
Pros: Great acting, great story, beautiful photography and music
    Cons: None

Summary: I have to admit it.  Although I have never been to Australia, I have a love for the country and its people.  I have met several Australians and gone on tour to Europe with a large group from Oz.  And, I really like Nicole Kidman and Hugh ... read more

Pros: Scenery, intentions, Wenham, Brown, Aboriginal mysticism
Cons: Direction, style, humour, caricatured, insulting

Summary: Prissy, repressed English rose Lady Ashley (Australia’s unofficial Botox Queen Nicole Kidman) arrives in 30s (just prior to Dubya Dubya Deux) Australia to venture to Faraway Downs, the remote cattle station owned by her husband, whom she soon ... read more

  • Unnecessary and Poor Remake of "Gone with the Wind"

    Jan 23 '09
    Pros: Customes, scenary, customes
Cons: incoherent screenplay, lack of chemstry between actors, meaningless characters

Summary:               I understand many of you may have heard of an old little film called “Gone with the Wind”, but may not have had a chance to watch that film from beginning to end to under ... read more

  • Australia-Jackman with claws retracted well some of the time

    Jan 02 '09
Pros: Kidman and Jackman great chemistry. Love with romance, hatred, action, progressive plot.
Cons: Not really great for the little ones too much violence and too much drama.

Summary: This is the perfect "date night" movie.  Not only does it appeal to women, but men will find it has the right amount of action and not too much romance where the true plot of the movie gets drowned out.  This movie is sure to be a classic up ... read more

  • Australia - not a faultless production, but a very enjoyable film nonetheless.

    Dec 24 '08
Pros: Acting (mostly), good plot, emotionally charged and some nice humour...
Cons: .. poor sets and cinematography, slow start, sometimes too predictable...

Summary: I have to admit that I hadn't initially been that keen to watch Australia - from the trailer, it looked to me rather like a Western, a genre I'm not keen on, only set in the outback rather than the Wild West.  However Baz Luhrmann's epic ... read more

Pros: Beautiful scenery, Brandon Walters shines as Nullah.
    Cons: Dumb, predictable story.

  • A moderately entertaining but completely forgettable epic

    Dec 05 '08
Pros: Hugh Jackman is genial to hang out with.  Some nice scenery.
Cons: It's a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing.

Summary: AUSTRALIA is a big, old-fashioned kind of epic that manages to entertain mildly on a very broad scale.  It’s the kind of movie that made me think upon its conclusion, “I liked it okay…but it’s also a little weird and ... read more

  • Not the movie it needed to be

    Dec 03 '08
    Pros: Supurb cinematography
    Strong cast
    Surprisingly well paced
Cons: - Shallow exploration of sub-plots
    - Feels abit too much like a giant advertisment
    - Underdeveloped characters

Summary: It’s a bold and unusual move to name a film after an entire country. Considering that no feature length film since 1923 has been simply titled “America”, maybe there is a good reason why it’s not a common occurrence. Sure, the ... read more

    Cons: 3 movies in 1

Summary: I am a big fan of Baz Luhrman's work, but I was a bit disappointed in his latest movie, Australia.  It seemed to me he tried to turn two movies into one.  The first movie was a solid western about beating a meat tycoon at his own game and the ... read more

  • Australia, a lot of epics rolled into one

    Nov 27 '08
Pros: The acting especially by Brandon Walters and the brilliant cinematography
Cons: Some elements of the plot
