AUTOTRADER.COM DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. BEWARE...AutoTrader.com has knowledge of SCAMS and Fraudulent ads but does not warn the consumers. My son was taken for $3,000.00 and for the majority of the negotiations prior to sending the money, ...
Stay away if you are a private seller!! Besides glitchy online problems, Autotrader puts private seller ads behind dealers (which is called premium services). For my car I had to scroll to the 5 page even though it was one of the lowest mileage and ...
Searching for a new car has evolved a lot from having to search through the want-ads, or by waiting for advertisements to come in the mail. The nickel advertisements are still a nice and quick way to find cars on sale out there, but the internet has ...
Twenty years ago, if you wanted to buy or sell your used car, the #1 way to do it was list it in the newspaper. However, as times and technologies have changed, so have the ways to buy and sell a used car. Auto Trader started out as a magazine ...
BUYER/ SELLER BEWARE....Since April 2005, I have had a truck listed on Auto Trader.com. I have had 6 contacts generated and 3 have been confirmed scams. Unfortunately, I lost a substantial amount of money in the first and no one seems interested in ...
I paid autotrader.com to keep running my ad until the vehicle sold. After about 3 months they dropped the ad and would not reinstate it. Perhaps they would reinstate it if there was customer service beyond the form you fill out and never receive a...
When I look for a good auto biased web service, I look for more than just good car deals. If I'm going to return to an auto web service on a regular basis I want car reviews, car specs, miscellaneous info, etc. I have been using AutoTrader.com for about ...
Autotrader - you are going to get harrassed! they give out your information by xtranskaryxma ,Nov 12 '09
Do NOT use Autotrader.com unless you feel like getting immediately harrassed by third party vendors offering to "sell your car for you." Autotrader makes it mandatory to put in your phone number which immediately prompts third parties to call you and offer to sell your car, I had three calls from 702-990-7883 (USA Auto Sales) and then two calls from 866-326-0949 (Longwood Inc. "Brad") both scamming services according to everyone else on the web. Put your vehicle up on Craigslist, atleast they cost nothing, will hide your real email address by masking it and don't require you to post your phone number (don't do this under any circumstance) online so you get harrassed.
If you have a serious buyer let them contact you via email then get their number. Autotrader has no secure way of posting on line and you have to pay for it. I'd short the stock as they are going to lose all of their business as a result.
One week after paying my ad still hasn't appeared on the site. Waste of money, got more leads off craigslist than from my non-appearing ad on autotrader.
Might as well have thrown $39 out the car window by mortonkt ,Mar 16 '09
Don't WASTE your money! After paying to run an 8 week ad, I looked the ad up to see how it appeared on the actual site. The ad was not there after one week. I emailed (since there is no way to get anyone on the phone), and they fixed the "glitch", and credited me one week. great. Next , I emailed about changing my zip and city, as I am moving and wanted a larger area for searches. no response. I emailed again with the same question. No response. I emailed again, and again, and again, and yet again. Looks like their typical method of dealing with questions is to ignore them. This site is a complete waste of money for the individual seller, as the dealers get priority anyway. As far as customer service? There is none.
Austin Texas service does suck. "Run until sold" ad ran for three months, they NEVER got it right in the magazine (often it did not appear at all) and took forever to get it right on the website. Then, they sent me an email confirming my renewal on 1/14. (You have to renew every 3 weeks or your "run until sold" ad dies) On 1/20 the ad "expired" and they wanted another $39.
Inspite of the bad service I got three calls. All scams.
Autotrader generated only spam, no buyers by sandstones ,Mar 21 '08
Advertised my car on both Autotrader.com and Craigs list (2 different areas). Car was for sale for 3 weeks, got about a dozen real buyers from Craigs list, zero from Autotrader. Purchaser came from Craigs list
What I did get from Autotraders was lots of phone calls from other outfits trying to sell me on listing my car with them. From about 6 different outfits, all of them calling multiple times.
So, next time I'll save $49 and just list with Craigs list.
Ad me to the totally dissatisfied side. I went online to choose the service I wanted. I chose the "Deluxe Package" till it sells. Which is supposed to give you up to 250 characters to describe your car. Well it would only let me enter 125, also I couldn't even get the correct model to display. So I felt at a disadvantage to the dealers that that had their cars listed with the correct model displayed. I tried to edit the information, but there is no way to do so. I called customer service, and they informed me that only their "members",(think dealers) had access to that" but that she would try to add that info herself. Why I asked, and their response was that is "just the way it is"???. Two days ago I tried to change the price and still it is the same. I could go on. I will NEVER EVER use this site or reccomend it to anyone. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!
If I had burned the $40, at least I would have gotten heat! by gcburgess ,Sep 03 '04
If I had burned the $40, at least I would have gotten heat!
I have posted two cars on Autotrader.com, and I consider this money wasted! In the combined months that the ads have been on their service, I have not gotten a single phone call inquiring about my cars. However, I have gotten a very large number of emails from "dealers" who "have clients interested in the car". This is a scam!!! I have gotten a much better response much cheaper by simply printing out fliers and placing them at my grocery store and my place of work. Don't waste your money on AutoTrader.com!!!!
you need us. we don't need you attitude. by chaunc ,Mar 26 '04
used the service in austin texas. and they absolutely suck. they put a picture of a dodge truck for my mazda truck. sent them two emails with the correct picture- ignored me, sent them a nasty letter saying I was going to take them to small claims court to recoup my money-ignored me, my wife called and left them a message to change it and so far they are ignoring her. have been asked to show? well it's still there folks. As of 3/27/04. go to autotrader enter 1995 thru 1995 mazda b2300. and put 78626 as your zip with a 25 mile search radius. is that show enough for you? canceled the ad and stopped the credit card payment. and ad is still running with the dodge truck picture as of 3/31/04. pitiful!
