Pros: Original, though quite disturbing, idea Cons: The satire is lost in the violence
Summary: Battle Royale is a very twisted Japanese movie about a bunch of children forced into a ‘last man standing’ type of game where they must all kill each other. It combines elements of Lord of the Flies with The Running Man. While it did ... read more

Pros: Provocative, satirical, thrilling and creatively barbarous for the first 30 mins Cons: Excessive murder scenes numb the viewer to the points it wants to make about death
Summary: There have been some outrageous blancmanges in my time, namely the Spanish Hedonist Special or the Mexican Death Blancmange. Often those who sample such dishes are shocked at the levels of spice inherent in each one. I liken these dishes to this ... read more

Pros: Interesting Premise, Fair Execution, Some Intriguing Characters, Sense of Humor Cons: Overly Melodramatic, Premise May Be A Bit Too Over the Top
Summary: Battle Royale is a film that I've often heard about but had never actually watched, that is, until recently. Satirical and exploitive films are usually my forte, and this one has a pretty original premise. Battle Royale, at it's most basic level, is ... read more

Pros: Brutal and violent. Great acting from Takeshi Kitano and the young actors perform well. Cons: controversial subject matter.
Summary: I own a copy of this film and it is a really fantastic, disturbing concept. It is based on a Japanese Manga of the same name, which is more brutal and graphic than this film. The story involves Asian school children who are constantly pitted against ... read more

Pros: Powerful message, Cool side characters, Powerful soundtrack Cons: The ending
Summary: What's this? I don't believe it, I can't believe, and thus I won't believe it. The NaSty one is reviewing a movie that isn’t under the gangster genre. Is this a permanent change that his fan club can look forward to in the not so distant future? ... read more

Pros: Action, Plot, Great themes, not the same old movie Cons: Not as good as the book
Summary: I originally heard of Battle Royal from one of my cousins. He said he had seen this movie, and really recommended it. Then for Christmas my parents got me the book. I am not usually one who likes to read a lot, but every so often I will start a book ... read more

Pros: I'm trying to think of something good to say...thinking...thinking... Cons: Impossible premise, Plot holes the size of Texas, Bad acting, Ineffective soundtrack
