Pros: Elegant Design.
Cons: A Mood Killer. Servo mechanism that moves CDs around is extremely noisy and distracting.
This CD changer was intended to join forces with my existing Wave Radio/CD (which sounds great). The combined system was supposed to replace an aging receiver and 5 disk 'carousel'.
I had hoped for seamless play, (and naively), shuffling between CDs. Not with this gizmo. The noise produced when this thing changes CDs is unrivaled by any other electronic device since the first top-load VHS players arrived in the early '80s. When a CD is finished there are a few moments of restful silence, followed by an extended sequence of servo ker-chunks, whirrs and buzzes as the next CD is brought up and put into place.
You almost wince at the end of a CD knowing that in a few seconds you will be forced to endure this mood killing racket. And it is LOUD. If this changer was in the trunk of your car it would not matter; but right there in the middle of the party?
Why couldn't they have placed a laser reader in each bay? They are dirt cheap.
Instead of this gadget, just get an iPod and their attachment device and keep things smooth and seamless.
