I purchased this trash can 2 - 3 years ago. The inside plastic hinge on the lid of the trash can broke. I contacted the Brabantia website, and with unbelievable ease they responded and informed me that they would send me a new lid right away. I still have the spare latch that is included in the packaging at purchase. I thought for sure that the latch would give out before the hinge. Not the case at all. I really love this garbage can. The only time you can smell the trash is when the lid is open. Beautiful.

I LABEL THE INSIDE OF THE LID FOR PLASTIC OR PAPER. THE LID IS A FABULOUS DESIGN-PRICE IS QUICKLY FORGOTTEN-QUALITY IS LONG APPRECIATED! I HAVE FIVE!

My review is for the 20L Step Can. I purchased this Can for my kitchen in August 2003 and the plastic hinge broke where the push rod connects due to poor quality in December 2006. I contacted customer service in NJ by email and phone Jan 21, 2007 to request a hinge replacement. Today is Monday April 30th 2007 and I still do not have a replacement due to the incompetence and poor communication of the US customer service division. The excuses have ranged from Customer Service Rep turnover, not receiving the email pictures that I sent, lost information, it was already mailed and the shipping department is backed up. Avoid purchasing any products from this company unless you like overpriced poor quality products from a company that is not only incompetent but unwilling to fulfill their warranty.
