Pros: Good text printing, copying, B/W scans, paper handling, Windows OCR software Cons: Uneven photo printing. Oversaturation and fringing of color scans. Power glitches.
Printing: I found the print speed to be impressive, especially for a small, inexpensive unit like this. The print quality is excellent for text and simple graphics. However, prints of photos and some large graphics often look pretty bad, with ...

Pros: Makes copies without wasting time on computer or ink glitches. Cons: None yet May-October Hard to read the screen.
We have only had this machine for a couple of weeks. Its looks are not hip, but it works. We use it as a copier only. After a 4 year frustrating, infuriating and work-stopping experience with an all-in-one Epson 4600 and previously an all-in-one HP ...

Pros: Great laser prints, copies, scans - both pictures and OCR, and document feeder Cons: Controls on the machine are not that intuitive ( other than copy and scan)
I am probably not the typical buyer of this product but it started because I wanted a copier for my home. I looked at a very small canon scanner ( Lide60) that, when hooked to a computer with a printer would make copies. I came pretty close to buying ...

Bought it for b/w text - now I use it as a copier
by aikejon ,Sep 05 '07
Pros: Warms up very quickly from cold, excellent as copier-b/w text printer. Cons: Input feeder for scanner, illegible lcd screen, buttons not intuitive. No fax.
I bought it as a high volume (for home internet) b/w text cost-effective printer. It works great, although it has some difficulty accepting anything buy perfectly flat paper in the scanner-feeder on top. The buttons are less than intuitive at first glance, but I quickly figured it out without resorting to the manual. Small LCD screen is hard to read unless you can get your face close to it. Easy install, easy use. I bought a Brother colour inkjet all-in-one to go with it for faxing and low-volume colour printing. For the two units I paid under $200 Cdn...what a deal. So far, I'd buy another one.

Paper will jam 2 out of 10 pages. It is very bad printer.
by f4register ,Dec 23 '06
Pros: Strongly against the product. Do not buy it. It is a piece of junk. Cons: Do not buy it. The last 2 review gives high rate. They might be hired.
I bought the printer last year, it cost me 200.
The printer is good. But it has fatal shortage. The paper is always jam.
In average, the printer will jam 2 out of 10 pages. I do not know why the Brother can not solve such a minor problem.
I will go buy another printer since I am really tired with adjust the printer to troubleshoot the jammed papers.

Great printer for the price!!
by captain0127 ,Jan 25 '07
Pros: Easy set up, Fast print, reliable, cheap to run. Cons: envelopes print a little crooked, no fax
Easy to set up. Prints much faster then my inkjet did and makes much less noise. So far I have had no problems with any of the features. Its very compact and it will print up to 1500 pages with the starter toner. The replacement toner will print up to 2500 pages. When compared to an inkjet printer at 400 pages per cartridge this is a bargain. Oh yes and a refill toner cost approx 43.00. The only down side I see so far is that when you manually feed envelopes the print usually comes out a little crooked. It should have a better guide for feeding manually. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Great copier/ printer / scanner for the price!
by lsrams65 ,Apr 15 '07
Pros: Speed, ease of use, sharp copies. Cons: None after 5 months
I needed a printer and a copier for a home office after my Epson 6400 inkjet printer / copier quit (it also served as a network printer for two Mac OSX computers). I bought this Brother DCP-7020 laser printer to use just as a copier based on some of the reviews here, and I put my Epson 740i back into service as the network printer. However, I like the print quality of this DCP-7020 better than the 740i, so I use it for much of my printing as well as making copies. The software for printing & scanning was easy to install, the unit was easy to set up, it warms up quickly, & it has an on-off switch (unlike another all-in-one that I have used)! It also has a fairly small footprint and is a quiet unit.

Fails Consistantly
by fortapache555 ,Mar 12 '07
Pros: It still prints but.... Cons: Why bother?
My office bought one of these and used it as a stand alone copier. The display became scrambled within two months and then went out completely. Brother sent a new one,we packed the first one in the box and returned it to them. The display became scrambled within two months and then went out completely.
