Plextor PX-740A DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner

Cons: No CD+G (karaoke) burning supported.

While Plextor has long been recognized as the leader in quality burners, and specifically recognized by the karaoke community for their CD+G (karaoke CD) burning support, this offering falls short.

In 2004 Plextor offered up the model 504 which was the first Plextor to ignore CD+G support. This confused many buyers who rely on Plextor to provide fully compatible products. Now, they offer the 740 which again fails to meet product expectations with regard to CD+G support.

Many online websites list this drive as CD+G compatible, however, it is 'read only'. CD+G burning support is not available. The Plextor website states this clearly in the datasheet, however those relying on past Plextor purchases will now have to perform 'due diligence' to ensure getting what they expected.

Dump your Plextor stock now, they are fast becoming just another burner lost in the crowd.
