Pros: Generous cash back; No annual fees Cons: 20- day grace period; Interest rate spikes if payment is late
Ah, credit cards. They are considered an evil menace by many people, particularly those who have experienced the wrath of accumulated credit card interest. They can end up costing an individual two, three, even four times the amount of the original ...
Pros: Unbeatable 5% cash back at grocery stores, drugstores and gasoline stations. Cons: Online rewards balance is rather cryptic. $300 rewards limit/calendar year.
UPDATE 7/7/07: Note--Citi no longer offers this credit card, and current cardholders now receive a greatly reduced 2% off where 5% off was the norm. I no longer recommend this card and suggest you look elsewhere for a rewards card. I have left the ...
Pros: no fee, 1% cash back, up to 11% on CitiMerchants, good customer service, fraud protection Cons: $300 annual limit on cash rebate (unlimited on the CitiMerchants site), phone/mail solicitation
A few years ago, I decided to trim down my wallet. I cancelled a whole bunch of store cards. I hardly ever used them and didn't think carrying a bunch of cards did anything good for my credit score. So up until last year, all I had were my AOL VISA card ...
Pros: no fee, 2% rebate on groceries Cons: Max rebate of $300/yr; rebate comes by check in amounts of $50 or more.
They sent a letter a few weeks ago that announced a change effective October 23, 2006 which makes the program no longer worth recommending. The rebate on groceries is going from 5% to 2 %. They did announce that more purchases would be subject to the ...
Pros: 5% rebate on food and drug purchases is a superb value offering Cons: The 5% rebate rate is capped at $300/yr.
For those who use credit cards (in other words, everybody), the value proposition on the Citi Dividend Platinum Select Card is one of the strongest on the market: 5% rebate on purchases made at supermarkets, drugstores and gas stations, 1% back on all ...
Pros: Best cash rebate program as of Sept. 1, 2004 Cons: Limited to $300 cash rebate per calendar year
Looking for the best cash rebate program? This is it! As of Sept. 1, 2004, Citi Dividend Platinum Select Card will offer the best cash rebate program in the market. It allows you to: 1. Earn 5% cash back for everyday purchases at supermarkets, ...
Pros: Generally the all around best rebate program. Cons: Max $300 per year rebate, high 3% charge on foreign transactions
First off, I always pay my balance in full and on time, and I manage my usage wisely. If you don't, then you'll have to adjust your consideration of my advice accordingly. In particular, I won't say anything about interest rates, late fees, overlimit ...
Pros: Earn 5% cash-back on gasoline, grocery, and drugstore purchases, and 1% on all other purchases Cons: $300 cash-back reward limit per year, redeemable only after $50 is accumulated
The Basics The Citi Dividend Platinum Select card is one of a number of Citibank's reward card offerings. For my purposes, I've found it to be far superior to any others. There are actually two general classes of Citi's reward ...
Pros: Attractive Reward program Cons: Disjointed customer service, BIG lag time between purchases and rewards of points, some points lost
This card sounds like a good program, however, if you closely watch your rewards you'll start to notice that Citibank is very lax in crediting the rewards on time if at all. Example 1: I was told that I would receive $5 cash back if I did a $1500 ...
Pros: 1% cash back Cons: poor customer service poor fraud prevention technology keep you wondering whether your transactions will get rejected
I have been a card holder for 10 years and that means nothing for Citibank. Their fraud prevention system is ridiculous and annoying. I can't even buy $15 worth of groceries in Wal-Mart in another city. I also called their customer service over the phone ...
Pros: No fee. Generous 5% rebate when used correctly. Cons: Low cap on total annual rebate. No accountability on program rules.
This card provides an attractive 5% rebate if you (1) always pay your balance in full, (2) only use the card in grocery stores and gas stations, and (3) stop using it after you hit $6000 in charges YTD. For most families the grocery and gas bill ...
Pros: Really none if you have good credit you can get cards all day Cons: Poor poor customer service.
If you consider this card, consider this CITI policy. I had a card with 16,000 credit limit of which I owed $300. I pay on line in full, on time - never late, never carry a balance. Other wise there was no problem with my credit or payment history. I ...
Pros: 7% cash back for 3 months for supermarkets and 5% after that
Cons: "Citi shall determine which purchases qualify" for that 7%
Last night I was flipping through coupon booklet and I found an ad advertising Citi Dividend card. It originally caught my eye because I just received my new Citi Dividend card about one week ago. The ad for the card was: " 7% cash back at ...
It's the Best Choice for Us! by rdhanson ,Jun 07 '05
Pros: No annual fee, cash rebate, accepted "everywhere" Cons: High APR
We this card and another and enjoy a very high rebate every year. The Citi card is for everything but groceries. It pays the highest rebate that we've found, plus there's no annual fee. I haven't found an airline card that comes close to the rebate of the Citi, and Citi gives us cash! Which we could use to buy an airplane ticket, anywhere we want to go, any time!
How to get around the low cap? We buy more from Kroger than any other store, so we have a Kroger Mastercard. It gives up to 5% back also, so we don't lose too much there.
If we were to make a major purchase and need some financing, then we would transfer the balance to another card or apply for a new card with a low introductory rate.
Also, if we knew we were going to make a major purchase and max out the Citi card, we'd be right here at epinions looking for another rebate plan.
Pros: Easy to sign up. Cons: Unable to verify they are doing as promised.
On the monthly statement, there is not way to tell which purchases have the 5% applied, and which do not. Walmart is not covered for grocery purchases, since they sell more than groceries, and Citibank claims Walmart does not flag their grocery purchases so Citi to determine what was bought. Customer service also cannot tell which purchases are gas, groceries or pharmacies. You have to request an 'appeal' and they then are supposed get back to you later. Yuck. Forget this card unless they do better. Very frustrating, I mean.
