  • I Don't Pack My iPaq

    Aug 17 '01
Pros: somewhat adjustable backlight, PCMCIA support/extra battery life via addon sled
Cons: outlook on Windows only, battery hog, screen somewhat pixelated, no built-in expansion, bulky and heavy

Summary: I've been having a long debate with myself over whether to write an iPaq review. I really hate my iPaq but much of what I hate is the confusing and convoluted operating system and not the device itself. I feel pretty strongly about separating the OS from ... read more

  • Unreliability and Limited Expansion

    Jan 12 '03
    Pros: Screen
    Cons: Limited Expansion. Unreliable.

Summary: Definitely don't like the limited memory expansion capability, but I also had severe quality problems with my Ipaq 3650. I have had to return my unit for repair a total of four times to date. Details: #1. Battery completely discharging ... read more

  • Pointless without dependability!

    Dec 17 '02
Pros: Nice color screen, decent CPU speed.
Cons: Terrible durability, short battery life, no way to do full backups/restores, expensive.

Summary: I've owned two 3600-series iPAQs. Both died, the same way. The touch screen eventually stops working right, making the entire device unusable. I didn't mistreat them. I never dropped them or exposed them to extreme temperatures. And this wasn't just ... read more

  • Ipaq Light.

    Oct 20 '02
Pros: Light weight, excellent display and sound.
Cons: Could be overpriced and no expansion capabilities.

Summary: Ipaq Light. Compaq ipaq H3650 I am looking to purchase a Palm or Handheld device. A few of my friends have one and I have been fortunate enough to get their scoop and even see how theirs are performing. As of yet I have ... read more

  • Great affordable Pocket PC

    Jun 20 '02
Pros: 1. Compatibility with Microsoft Windows, 2. Sleek Design, 3. Screen, 4. Support
Cons: 1. CF and SD slot not included, 2. Low Memory, 3. No wireless

Summary: I bought an IPAQ 3635 which is the same except that it came with the Compact Flash Sleeve Free! I bought it in November 2001 when the Unit was going out of Production by Compaq for 300$ after their 150$ rebate. I think the unit is worth that much only. ... read more

  • IPAQ 3635 (same as 3650)

    Jun 02 '02
Pros: At first, I was not thrilled...now I am.
Cons: There are smaller, thinner, prettier ones now, but for the price...it is great!

Summary: Nicely made. Needs add on to expand...but I got a "slider" which is DO IT YOURSELF and found it to be great for use with the 128mb CF card I recovered from my prior clamshell unit. Got a modem for it which works fine for fax/email. Web pages are hard ... read more

  • IPAQ - Wait until it's Perfected

    Mar 26 '02
Pros: GREAT MACHINE to a Point
Cons: Crashes, Backlight uncooperative, Compaq Corporate Arrogance and unresponsiveness.

Summary: http://communities.compaq.com/servlet/Redirect?id=5451066 (Follow this thread about the problem listed below) I have had (2) Two Ipaq 3650's. The first lasted about an hour. This is when it first came out and was a very hot item. I ... read more

  • Good All around PDA

    Mar 26 '02
Pros: backlight, easy data entry, handwriting recognizer
    Cons: size

Summary: I really like this PDA, I had one of the old Casio's when they first came out in color and were running WIN CE. This one is a huge advancement. It is fully customizable and is actually a really good deal at the prices you can find it for. It can be ... read more

  • PAQ - Poor and Questioanble

    Feb 27 '02
Pros: Good display, price, 64mb of memory
Cons: Battery life, clock problems, snapping speaker, other unsolved issues.

Summary: The iPaq is, in my opinion, a pretty device with nice features, but under the surface there are some troubling problems that plague this device. An old saying in the computer industry goes that Compaq is actually an acronym, which stands for: ... read more

  • Powerful PDA

    Nov 13 '01
Pros: Great Screen, Fast, Lots of Apps, Size
Cons: No built in expansion, battery life

Summary: This is a sexy cutting edge PDA that everyone sees and wishes they had. Compaq did an excellent job designing the new iPaq series of handhelds. As much as I hate to admit it MS also did a great job with the PocketPC OS. I switched from a Palm based ... read more

  • iPAQ, Therefore, I AM...

    Oct 28 '01
Pros: Eye-catching styling; bright color display; very sleek; battery charges in cradle
Cons: A bit bulky with add-ons; battery life stinks; accessories aren't cheap; dust under screen

Summary: I'd like to begin this review by admitting that I own an iPAQ 3650, but that I don't really need it. I probably don't really need a PDA, or half the electronic gadgets I spend my dwindling free time obsessing over for that matter! Needless to say, the ... read more

  • Best Non-Palm Device

    Oct 22 '01
Pros: Awesome Screen. Sleek Design. Decent Speaker. Headphone Jack. Expansion Options.
Cons: Heavy. wonky OS. Limited Battery Life.

Summary: As a long time Palm user, I was interested in how the iPAQ would fit my established processes. I have dabbled in the past with WinCE 2/2.1 era devices and been suitably disappointed. I also currently use a Palm Vx that has been sitting on the charger for ... read more

  • Is this the best Pocket PC?

    Oct 12 '01
Pros: Bright Screen, expansion capabilities, good sync with Outlook
Cons: Slippery, very easy to drop, short battery life, Pocket PC OS

Summary: Having been a Palm user for a little over a year, I was required to switch to the Compaq Ipaq for work purposes. First of all, I'm not one of those "platform bigots". I like whatever works best for me. The iPaq falls short in a number of areas. However, ... read more

  • Currently the best

    Aug 14 '01
Pros: Speed, functionality, looks, RAM, applications.
Cons: Battery life, ROM, no built in CF or PCMCIA slot.

Summary: In general, this gadget is what all the other opinions have pointed out. Its almost perfect. I bought my 3650 on ebay and have totally been happy with it. The software is easy to use, syncronization is simple. I want to focus on things that ... read more

  • Overall, A Great Product, But Is It Really That Necessary?

    Aug 02 '01
Pros: Great Color Screen, Amazing Capabilities, Good Audio
Cons: Screen Scratches Easily, Very Breakable, Needs Expensive Components

Summary: If you listen to any opinion here, let it be this one. My high school was the only one in the country to do this. Mindsurf Technology gave us all Compaq iPaqs to test for the year. I learned a lot and also have some complaints. Here's the official prices ... read more
