Zen is #1 (behind ipod)

by gmurray96 , Jan 05 '03
Pros: Size for 20gig, FM backlit remote (sold separately), Price, Ease of use
Cons: Still bulkier than ipod, carry case, not many accessories on market
If you have the cash and a new computer (Windows me/2000/XP plus a Firewire port) go get the ipod! But, some of us still have Windows 98 and a USB port and do not want the headaches and expense to upgrade. SO...THAT LEAVES THE CREATIVE NOMAD ZEN 20GIG!...

Good price, BAAAAD design

by mrcynic , Oct 16 '03
Pros: It's cheaper than many other devices of the same capacity. Reputable company.
Cons: Bad UI, clumsy design, heavy, ugly, tiny display... did I mention bad UI?
I test software, and for the past few months I have been using the Nomad Jukebox Zen and the iPod in conjunction with a leading media player. There really is no comparison between the two devices. The iPod is an elegant, well-designed, intuitive MP3 p ...

Be the life of the party

by robchu , Feb 17 '03
Pros: Massive storage capacity,
Cons: Flakey connection, but it doesn't happen often
20GB. Say that number a few times to yourself. 5 years ago, most desktop computers didn't have that much space. Now, we have it in our pockets. The Zen music player is an amazing device at an amazing price. Never mind the fact that its made of a nice...

ZEN - INFERIOR TO IPOD

by tscull88 , Jun 11 '04
Pros: Relativly small, Good music quality, Moderatly Cheap,
Cons: Still bulky, Horrible Customer Support, Undurable, Crappy headphones, Inferior to Ipod
When I decided I wanted to buy a mp3 player, i spent much time pondering and researching the ideal one for me. I spent time comparing prices, reading professional reviews, and looking here on Epinions.com to see which one would be the best for ...

All in all, a great little player!

by jimf001 , Apr 11 '03
Pros: Great Price, Small size, 20 GB of music will last you a looong time!
Cons: No "line out", Playcenter software is a cut below other software.
I've owned a Jukebox Zen now for about 2 months, and I have to admit, I'm totally hooked on this player. I'm a software developer, and I use a player to "block" out things going on around me. I also use this player to workout with and in my car, with a...

Happy as Larry

by moshon , May 18 '03
Pros: Cost, vs IPod, Sound quality, 20 GB space, very easy to sync with my PC.
Cons: Larger than Ipod , Power consumption faster rate when seeking for tracks or using EAX.
I dig the Zen player. I needed a portable that would allow me to listen to my music much more especially when commuting but didn't want to have to sort out a couple of CD's for the day in the morning when i'm feeling like s***. This way I can go from...

Buy this today!

by technodufus , Apr 11 '03
Pros: Audio quality is superb, size, useful case, incredible value.
Cons: Software a little unstable, a little complicated.
I did the requisite endless searching and reviewing before committing to the Zen. I ultimately wound up with the Zen vs. the Ipod. I chose the Zen based on it's better value and superior audio quality. I am 100% pleased with the purchase.

1 year later and damn I love this thing!

by craigcinca , Jun 01 '04
Pros: Durable, I've dropped it twice and it lives! (or am I just lucky?)
Cons: Small screen, Non replaceable battery, both fixed in new models. Headphones blow!
This is my first mp3 portable so I can not make an accurate comparison to other models (i.e. IPOD) but what I can say is that, in general, if you are looking to purchase an INEXPENSIVE player this is probably the brand you should buy. All of my gripes ...

Pure Sweetness

by espnluva , Dec 26 '02
Pros: Sound, Easy of use, Transfer speed, Anything else you can think of!!!
Cons: Hmmm.....That's a tough one......Can I put none???
All I can say is WOW! I absolutely love this player! I finally got one for Christmas, and since I made my decisions based on these reviews, I figured I'm at least obligated to write one myself. So basically, I'm 100% satisfied with the Zen. The sound...

Better than I-Pod

by quasihero , Jan 03 '03
Pros: 20GB hard drive, fast data transfer, ability to record with remote
Cons: carry case adds some bulk to overall size, small buttons, EAX system is a gimmick
i debated for weeks between the nomad zen and the ipod. the decision was at a deadlock until i was able to knock off $100 off the price of the zen ($50 online coupon with $50 rebate from creative, AND free shipping). now that i have the zen in my...

Great way to store and listen to your music on the run!

by trs1982 , Mar 19 '04
Pros: Storage capacity, sound enhancement, file management
Cons: Fiddly controls, battery life/compatibility
Initially I looked into the high capacity MP3 Player market for a friend who was interested in getting an iPod or a Zen. Having looked at both and seen what great value the Zen appeared to be I decided to purchase one myself. It's great to be able to ...

Stupid Customer support

by natedog006 , Oct 28 '03
Pros: holds a lot of songs, and it is easy to scroll for songs quickly
Cons: breaks easily, bad support
The MP# player was great... only that when it dropped once that it broke. I loved it for the longest time, i changed from the jukebox 3 to the zen which was a good choice, however, in september the headphones was not working so I sent it back to Creative. ...

Creative Nomad Zen

by aristotle100 , Mar 04 '03
Pros: Sounds great, small and light, easy to use, nicely made, lots of storage.
Cons: Desktop software
Love the player. It sounds great and is easy to use. The supplied headphones aren't great, but I expected that. Had to reset the player once because it froze. I think I unplugged the usb when it was downloading or something stupid like that. Not a...

Excellent once you get it installed

by goodbud12345 , May 17 '03
Pros: Good Sound Quality, Fast Transfers, Easy Navigation
Cons: Impossible to install software, small LCD
I bought this thing earlier today, and it took my (literally) 6 hours to finally get it to work. The installation process was very tedious, you had to plug in the hardware at the right time, it took me about 7 or 8 times to get it right. THEN i tried...
