Got this for Christmas. Didn't...
by bigjm_dt3000 ,Jan 27 '03
Got this for Christmas. Didn't think I wanted it, but turns out that it is AWESOME. I have ported from a Nike PSA Play to this tool, and like it much more. The capacity means I can put just about every song I care for (within my music collection) on this platform and take it with me wherever I go. Will be taking it on a ski trip with me as my mobile music source, and I expect that it will perform very well. It is a bit larger and heavier than the traditional MP3 player, given that fact that it has an on-board hard drive. Seems to be durable thus far - - I have shaken it to extremes without any effect on peformance. All in all a great unit at a great price. The interface software is easy to use, and highly effective. Haven't used the firewire transfer yet - - USB is working well thus far. Loads about 6 entire CD's in an hour on USB. If firewire works as advertised, it would be incredibly fast.

I traded my rio riot...
by reverbandwhiskey_dt3000 ,Mar 22 '03
I traded my rio riot in for this machine, and am VERY happy that I did. I have tried every mp3 jukebox, including the Ipod and this is my favorite.
The Zen has the best sound quality of any mp3 jukebox. it has a signal to noise ratio of 98. And you can hear it. Wonderful sound! Lots of effects and EQ settings as well.
Battery life is excellent, finding songs is a breeze, and the scroll wheel works better than any other unit.
I bought mine for 255 dollars online, so there are some great deals out there. One hint: Invest the 25$ in Notmad, a third party software bundle. The software included for txferring files is very unpleasant.

The Zen worked right out...
by bkruppa_dt3000 ,Mar 23 '03
The Zen worked right out of the box (after charging). Sound was good and using Play Center was easy without reading any instructions. The sound quality for classical was very good. Rich with just the right amount of base. You must use the "Lock" function since the buttons are placed such that you always hit either the Play/Stop of Forward/Backward. Once the "Lock" is in place no problems. Using the lock is easy. Haven't tested the battery time but it appears to be on track to giving 14 hours of continuous music. The scroll/enter works well and probably better than the iPod equivelant. Data transfer was quick and the auto/sync function worked well. My biggest complaint would be the small LCD size. It is not easy to read if you wear glasses and it is not bright. However, this is a technology problem and not a Zen problem. All in all I like the Zen. I just returned an iPod because of the battery problems plus the Zen was $200 less expensive than the equivelant iPod.

by chad1_dt3000 ,Apr 01 '03
I used that Archos 20 for about 15 days before it died. Then I called Best Buy and they wanted to have nothing to do with me, so I returned it and called some other places. I called Tweeder. They do not even sell this mp3 player, but they told me it was the best one that they have seen, so I walked next door and bought one. I have had it now for about a month and it does not skip. At All!!! It is fast, it does not stall, the display is easy to read. It is the Bomb.

I researched a lot of...
by gonetomorrow_dt3000 ,Mar 20 '03
I researched a lot of MP3 players, specifically ones with large, internal hard drives. This is the best one I found, and was well worth the money. The only complaints I have about it are the crappy head phones it comes with (if you buy a Zen, do yourself a favor and buy some quality headphones so you can take full advantage of this players's great sound, because the includes headphones do it no justice), the fact that it uses only an internal lithium ion battery (It makes travel difficult, there isn't always an outlet or time to charge it. I wouldn't mind if it were a bit bigger to accomodate some disposable batteries, and the software isn't very user friendly. But these pale in comparison to the pros. It sounds totally awesome and holds every MP3 you'll ever have (I have around 1900 in it now, and have space to double that amount). It's the smallest of its kind too, others are too large.

I have max'd out the drive by putting in all my cds and downloads. There are so many good things to say about the Zen. I can take my entire music collection with me, anywhere I go. Technology is great!

by krush_dt3000 ,Mar 18 '03
This machine is awsome, the fact that i can store all 1600 songs from my comp and still have 11GB left for storage makes me feel like this purchase was well worth it. i also love how easy it is to categorize my music. Great MP3 player, i reccomend it to everyone.
