The Crowne Plaza, Jackson, MS....Soon to Become the Jackson Marriott
by tombarnes - Top 100,Sep 08 '03
Pros: The renovation should include good meeting rooms and new restaurants. Cons: The building is a chunky 23 storied box right now and needs exterior renovations.
The Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Jackson, Mississippi was recently purchased by the Columbia-Sussex Corporation of Fort Mitchell, KY and will undergo a complete renovation. The hotel is expected to re-open some time in the spring of 2004 and will fly the Marriott flag. The hotel should prove to be a good addition to downtown Jackson, which is making remarkable strides in redeveloping itself into an attractive area for business. The transformation of the dismal Crowne Plaza into something new and fresh can only be applauded.
The expected opening date for the Jackson Marriott is the 15th of September, 2004. TAB 7/05/04

Crowne is a Marriott Now
by FRANSHAE ,Jul 06 '04
Pros: Food, service and downtown attractions Cons: remodeling not done
The downtown Crowne Plaza Hotel was purchased by Columbia Sussex in Feb. 2004. A renovation project over 7 million dollars is taking place right now. The entire building is being remodeled. Some people think it's closed but it's still open. They have some floors open with rooms. Bristol Grill Restaurant and the Bristol Bar is still running smoothly. They have a wonderful breakfast buffet, lunch buffet and menu options. The food is excellent even though the prices went up. There's also roomservice if you don't want to leave the room. They will accomodate your needs. The pool and fitness center is closed so you would have to leave to find any activites if you were staying there. I almost forgot about the Mezz which is already remodeled. The rooms are large for special events like weddings, receptions, reunions, and shows. The Misha Models are always doing shows here. The hotel has come a long way and Marriott will just advance it more.
