PowerDirector 5

by paulphoto paulphoto is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Software, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Dec 03 '05
Pros: Features complete DVD authoring process--Capture, Edit, Produce, Burn. Many wonderful features, fast, capable, stable
Cons: some features could use improvement (Picture-in-Picture, more options on chapter menus)
I read a review posted on epinions some time ago about a service that you can send your VHS or Hi-8 tape for a transfer of video contents onto a DVD disc. Of course, the fee is probably reasonable; and everything is done for you. But do they know exactly ...

CyberLink PowerDirector 5: Complete video editing/authoring in one program

by Gr8ful Gr8ful is a Lead on Epinions in Software, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Nov 18 '05
Pros: Full editing and authoring package in one
Cons: Limited DVD authoring capabilities.
CyberLink has taken one of the easiest video editing tools available today and made it even better. PowerDirector 5 is definitely the easiest software I have used for editing and creating videos and movies. It even comes with a burning engine for ...

Good stuff, could be great!

by rmac , Jul 06 '06
Pros: Excellent design, good features.
Cons: Errors out with loss of work.
I am pretty well satisfied with Cyberlink Power Director. Based on my experiences and the research I did prior to purchase I think I made a good choice. But before I get into specifics I think it is important to describe the hardware system I am ...

by cuffm4615 , Jul 18 '06
Pros: NONE !!!!!
Cons: EVERYTHING !!!!!!!
OH MY GOD !!! Please stay away from this product. It is one crash after another. I purchased it only because Top Ten Reviews gave it a gold medal mark but that was a horrible mistake. I should have known after doing a little homework prior to purchase ...

Not Ready for Prime Time!!

by csdreich , Nov 02 '06
Pros: Wonderful idea. If it worked I would never use anything else.
Cons: It doesn't work.
I had Power Producer 4 and used it with NO problems for over a year. I upgraded to PP 5 when it came out because PP 4 was easy to use and it actually worked. Power Producer 4, the first part, was well designed and was easy to use. The second part, ...

Crashes and destroys saved project
by babettezz ,Sep 21 '06
Pros: Nicer text
Cons: Crashes corrupt files even if they were just saved.
I upgraded from 3 for this reason hoping to lose this nasty crash. Yes even if I just saved the project, the crash destroys the saved file.

PD5 also renders my videos about 3 times slower then PD3.

The text is a little nicer in PD5.

PowerDirector 5 - mixed feelings
by ajandy ,Apr 01 '06
Pros: Very intuitive software.
Cons: Neither CyberLink nor I were able to get Magic Tools to work on my PC.
I recently bought a JVC GZ-MG70E (video camera with a 30GB hard drive). It came bundled with PowerDirector 3.x. After a ski holiday I tried this software and found it easy to master but rather basic.

I went to the CyberLink website, found an upgrade path to version 5, bought it on-line and downloaded the 600MB software via my DSL link. It took forever....

The installation was easy and the features were better but nothing particularly outstanding.

I suspect that the core market for this type of software is the novice or "I want easy to use software" type person.
