Day Write Off. ...
My nephew is at Texas Tech in his first year. Hes a bit homesick so Ive been trying to send him little goodies to remind him were thinking about him. One night while chatting online I mentioned how much I like my online DVD rental store...
This is a good site if it fits your needs. I have tried 10 different DVD rental places now and there's no such thing as getting a new release delivered to your door within 24 hours. There's some negatives with this site as there is with any DVD club. ...
I was extremely displeased with my experience at DVDAvenue. I am writing this review so hopefully other customers will not experience the same frustrations I did. I ordered a rare DVD set from them with intentions of ordering more. I was promised a ...
I decided to try Dvd Avenue because they offered a free two week trial of their on-line movie rental service. It was easy to sign up and it was easy to pick the movies I wanted them to send to me. They suggested I pick out at least twenty movies I ...
Like other sites that rent DVD's they have options on how many DVD's you rent at a time and no late fee's. You also have 2 weeks to turn them in after you cancel your subscription which is nicer than the one week with Netflix.
Poor Selection, Terrible Availability, and Extremely Slow Shipping by scooterscott78 ,Nov 21 '03
Terrible availability and selection, and very slow delivery. It took 9 days to get my movies shipped from D.C. to North Carolina. I had been a NetFlix customer for 3 years prior to switching to DVD Avenue, and I am going back. It seems there is only one advantage to DVD Ave., they carry video games and adult titles, however, nearly all of these titles are not available. To test this idea, I put 65 adult movies in my queue and 3 were available, most all of them were on "high demand." Customer service is a mixed bag. The first time I wrote them to tell them I was still 9 days with no movies they gave me a canned response about how they shipped 3 movies out 9 days prior (yeah, right! Netflix got my movies here in 3-4 days from nearly twice as far away). The second time, they sent me an extra movie to placate me, which took 3 days to arrive (weird, huh?). My overall impression is that this is a "mom & pop" deal who have about 50 DVDs in their personal collection. Don't waste your time.
Horiffic. Short Wait = 1 month at least!!! by auher ,Sep 27 '04
I had an extremely negative experience with DVD Avenue. As a past customer of Netflix, I was expecting Netflix quality with the added bonus of XBox Games (the only reason I chose DVD Avenue).
The quickest I received a movie was approx. 1 wk. 2 days, and I live within a mile of the main post office in downtown Chicago. One XBox game, I simply never received, it permantly was on a "short wait".
In short, go with Netflix. So what if you don't get the Xbox games, you get movies quick and that is why you sign up.
The worst on-line store service I have dealt with ever by webshopper101 ,Jan 07 '08
I ordered 2 sets of DVDs on November 11th for a Christmas present. When they didn't arrive by December 1st, I contacted the company. They assured me my order was shipped and would arrive soon. As Christmas approached, I asked them for more information. It turned out that only one DVD had even been shipped. It arrived, with the cases smashed due to being sent poorly packed, the day after Christmas. The DVD set was not complete either. Several DVDs were blank and one was a duplicate. Now I can't contact the company to return them. The second DVD set has not arrived at all. I am obviously not going to order anything else from DVD Avenue. I hope readers of this review website will avoid the disappointment I have had.
Good selection. Slow shipping though. by ringlerjustin ,Nov 06 '04
I was fairly happy with DVD avenue. They have a good selection. Although the dvds did take a while to get to me.
I'm in the new york area, I'm not sure where they ship from. I switched from dvd avenue to Mandy May DVD Rentals. They have more movies geared to women, like mean girls, Prince and Me. Netflix and DVD avenue carry these titles but you have to search for them. Mandy May does not carry any horror movies or fight movies, so it is easy to find a good movie. It's not everyone I guess, but I like it.
