Pros: It's good, it's funny, and it's well produced. Right up there with the Addams Family. Cons: The original series was somber. Some plot loopholes.
Summary: Once upon a time Soap Operas ruled daytime TV in America. We, the teeming masses, the hoi polloi, the people of the land, the peasants, could watch, for hours at a stretch, the terrible angst suffered by the upper crust. Such miseries they ... read more

Pros: An interesting blend of the original concept with the macabre Burton sense of humor Cons: Perhaps a tad darker than it needed to be, given the levity infused

Pros: Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are at it again with Dark Shadows. Cons: Dark Shadows (2012) lacked direction going in comedy, drama and horror directions all at once.
Summary: Together again, Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. Along for the ride of course is Burton's wife, Helena Bonham Carter and musician Danny Elfman. This combo has made many a quirky horror film from the excellent Edward Scissorhands, to Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd ... read more

Pros: Depp's acting, Burton's unique sensibility Cons: A few things feel forced; Depp's character curiously unsympathetic
Summary: It wasn't until I read talyseon's excellent review that I was even aware that this film is based upon a daytime soap opera that ran for six years in the late 1960's and early '70's. This, no doubt, is why it ... read more
