I received
Death At Briar Ridge as a gift from the author himself (though I've never met him personally). I heard of his skills, but never had the chance to challenge the talents of Mr. Poore. Well, I sat down two days ago with the book, and I could not put it down...
Our hero, the respectable Reverend Harvey Ashe, is an amiable fellow with a hard background of police work who has softened up with age and Christian ministry. Harvey and his wife Sarah are invited to a meeting and a weekend stay at Briar Ridge, the local lodge up in the mountains. In this compelling novel, our pastoral friend is forced to reapply his abilities as a detective when the host of the mountain lodge is murdered and the guests are snowed in by a ferocious blizzard.
This is to be only the first of a hopeful series of Reverend Harvey Ashe mysteries, and knowing that there'll be more.. I get a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. Nice work Mr. Poore, keep on writing!
