A big monitor.. or a fairly sized TV
by radzhome ,Apr 20 '07
Pros: Big, sleek, 5ms refresh, good contrast ratio and overall picture quality Cons: Older video cards will not support the monitor at native resolution
This is a very sleek looking monitor, quite large too, coming from a Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW, this monster is 2x the size and supports 2560x1600 resolutions using Dual Link DVI.
I got this so I can watch HDTV and analog without having to be sitting at my pc and staring at a small screen. This really did it, and its nice to be able to run games at native resolution. I highly recommend this monitor, probably the best 30" LCD Monitor on the market.. It was when I got it anyways.

Best 30inch LCD Widescreen Monitor for your Money
by stoykish ,Jan 14 '07
Pros: HUGE (2560x1600), dual DVI links, Vista compatible, incredible quality Cons: price > but still lower than competitors
If you want a huge LCD monitor (2560 x 1600 pixels), my experience and research say it is hard to top this gargantuan screen from Dell.
The Dell monitor boasts better specifications than its only competitor, the Apple 30-inch Cinema Display, yet it costs less. Other positives include the Dell LCD monitor's excellent ergonomics, as well as a USB hub and integrated memory-card readers.
Graphics professionals will appreciate its strong color fidelity, while the excellent text clarity makes it a serious business display. Video game players will also be pleased, though reports on DVD playback are mixed.
The monitor is compatible with the next-generation Windows Vista operating system. A high-end, dual-link DVI video card is required.

30 inches of Real Estate is a whole lot of lovin
by desmondsmith ,Jan 26 '07
Pros: Bright, clean looking, beautiful Cons: Only one video input, that's the DVI
So I've been a Dell user for many years, the LCD's are new to me, but this is my second Dell LCD Monitor.
Packed very well, shipped very fast. The stand comes attached.
Very bright disply, no other controls other than the on/off and the + - for brightness, any additional changes should be made from your video card.
You will need a dual DVI cable. I was a little confused at how this works though, it's only on output cable from the monitor and only on input plug for your computer.
I use a Radeon X1900XT and it's GREAT!
Video games with this monitor are unreal.
Photoshop with this monitor is unreal.
There are four USB ports on the monitor and multiple card readers as well. Both server me very well and I have happy to have the USB ports especially.
There is only ONE video input, so don't expect this to be your TV/Monitor, it's not going to work. But if you want a nice ULTRA sharp monitor, this Dell blows the Apple out of the water!!!

Dell monitor DVI-D only good for some.
by igf1 ,Aug 12 '07
Pros: Great at high resolution Cons: lousy for KVM switches, laptops without DVI-D, low-mid range video cards.
If you don't have a video card capable of handling DVI-D you will be stuck with a low resolution of 1280 x 800 . This monitor does not scale at all infact. So it's either the really high 2560 x 1600 or the really blocky 1280 x 800
not to mention there is no VGA option at all without a $250 converter. Most laptops wont be able to use this as a monitor.
