DUDE, I got a DELL

by pdboilermaker , Mar 09 '03
Pros: Fairly small and light, very reliable
Cons: Battery, Battery, Battery
Well, DUDE, I got a Dell and I love it. First let me start with the fact that I am a computer moron but have owned some over the years, it was time to replace my aging Gateway 350mhz machine so I had our IT guy pick out a Dell laptop for me. I told him...

Good all around notebook

by rschick69 , Oct 11 '04
Pros: Price-to-features ratio, battery life, size/weight, screen, tech support, internal WiFi option
Cons: 1 USB 1.1 port, no firewire, overall design "clunky"
I have never owned a PC before. I have been using Macs for 15 years. I have been very happy with my Dell Inspiron 4150. The performance is quite snappy. The screen is sharp and bright. The two media bays allow for great expandability options. I have a...

Solid computer

by bee-man808 , Apr 16 '03
Pros: Size, weight, screen
Cons: No USB 2.0 support 1 USB port Problems w/ external burner
Had this computer for about 7 months and still going strong. Crashed only because of my stupidity.

I originally bought the 4150 w/o a CDRW drive because I already had a TDK external. For some reason, it just wasn't happy (burned about 30...

Good Laptop. Great Options. Worthwhile

by ddsthedentist , Aug 24 '02
Pros: THIN. Very portable. Good keyboard. Options galore.
Cons: More expensive than similarly configured 8200. Slow P4. One Bay.
I am writing this review over my brother's laptop. If you have read my previos review of my Inspiron 8200 you would see that I have not been happy with the performance of the Pentium 4. I know that it is a laptop and it is not meant to be powerful as a...

Desktop Replacement? Desktop Replacement!!

by MirageTM , Sep 29 '02
Pros: Great price, dell support, it looks pretty friggin stylish.
Cons: Only one USB port, screen a tad small, weak graphics card.
I shopped around for a laptop computer for a looong time. I really wanted to have it all in my system, a DVD/CD-RW combo drive, a 15 inch screen, a killer 64 mb nvidia graphics card, 40gb hard drive, etc, etc. I essentially wanted my desktop as my...

Dell Inspiron 4150 - A good lightweight notebook.

by sk99 , May 02 '03
Pros: Performance, size, reliability
Cons: Lack of: USB ports, Firewire, USB 2.0

The Dell Inspiron 4150 is not a flashy laptop, rather it's more of a workhorse notebook, and does everything in the way it's supposed to. I've had this laptop for about a year now and have not yet faced any problems at all with it. But on the...

Great... until the next best thing.

by erick , Dec 03 '02
Pros: Thinner and lighter than most, nice display and great keyboard
Cons: Only 1 USB port (and USB 1.1), LCD cover is uneven
I bought this notebook in July so please bear with me as it is a little dated...

Technology:
The CPU is a 1.6ghz P4-M. I know that there are non-mobile P4 CPU notebooks out there but my preference is the mobile chip because I can't...

Dell will put you through hell...

by willywatts , Oct 21 '02
Pros: Fast (depends on program), relatively light for a desktop replacement, swappable drive module
Cons: flimsy display, gets too hot, noisy fan, cover rattles when closed, space key too low
...but with a friendly smile (like if that really matters).

If you're lucky and get a trouble-free system on the first crack, it's an okay deal, but only because of the price. If you don't get a good one, get ready for the exchange and repair...

Inspiron 4150 : Solid computer and solidly showing Dell's lack of inspiration...

by yusakugo Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10, Aug 19 '02
Pros: Still options galore, up to 2.0 P4-M power, good screen, portable
Cons: Sound/Speakers, 1 USB port, hey wait isn't this the case for the 4100?!
Another minor update of a Dell notebook... is it worth it? Well, to be honest with you, there is no reason to update to this notebook if you already own a decent PIII-M notebook. The 4150 adds very little overall to the table. However, if you're...

Not a reliable product

by baohl140 , Apr 21 '03
Pros: Worked for one and half years.
Cons: Defective motherboard.
I bought a Dell Inspiron 4150 two years ago. I used it primarily for just checking email, watching DVD and organizing photos taken with my digital camera. For almost one year, it worked fine, except whenever my boyfriend touched it, it mystriously went...

Overheating leads to burnt motherboard = dead laptop

by satay_hut , Feb 01 '05
Pros: none
Cons: Overheats, burnt motherboard, frustration with incompetent tech support
I agree with you 100% - Dell should issue a recall for this product, I believe the next step for us is to file complaints to the FTC and BBB so it becomes a widely publicized issue. I have purchased my 4150 back in Feb '03 and was hoping to "squeeze" a ...

bulky, slow, overheats
by joebrien11 ,Mar 07 '05
Pros: doesn't crash or anything
Cons: bulky, slow, overheats
I've had this computer for two years. It was a major upgrade provided by my office. I thought it would be smokin fast considering it was a pentium IV 2Ghz and it had 512Mb ram. Not so- I was disappointed with the speed. I just inserted another 512Mb to make it 1 Gig and it's still slow. Just today I shut it down to work on my far superior mac mini. When I picked it up to put it on the bookshelf I noticed that the bottom of the computer was like a hotplate. I'm thinking it's got a major overheating problem and that's what slows it down. I don't know, either way I don't like the computer. The next dell that came out looks far superior - thinner, faster.
