Spacetime Continuum: Jonah Sharp (Fender Rhodes piano, synthesizer, samples, drums); Damien Masterson (saxophone, harmonica); Brian Iddenden (saxophone). Jonah Sharp goes all quasi-jazz on DOIUBLE FINE ZONE, but as is de rigeur in his Spacetime Continuum, devastating results are achieved. Incorporating chunks of brass, real-time percussion, and various electronic flora and fauna isn't an exactly new idea, but caught up in Sharp's matrix, the onrush of sounds is nothing if not euphoric. The beatfest that is "Microjam" marries some almost Biosphere-like synth burbles to a strident, clicking bass line and an incessantly nagging, hypnotic and irresistible synth motif. "Biscuit Face" looks to be Detroit techno filtered through the electronic sieves of the British (think Autechre meeting Juan Atkins). "Compound" harks back to an earlier Spacetime, when gentle flotation was the key, though Sharp here suggests a meeting of sanguine trip-hop with Sun Ra and various sundry celestial seasonings.
