I am writing to let people reading, that my life has improved since I started the Atkins approach. I knew it was time for a change, I saw myself at the heaviest I had ever been. The first 2 weeks are the hardest...I kid you not. I went through horrible cravings, headaches, chills, mood swings, bouts of nausea and tiredness all in an effort for my body to try to get those refined sugars into me. But,stay strong and adhere strictly to the list of permissible foods all of these effects will start to lessen within 4 days you will be feeling much better. The book is reasonably priced,No special shakes or supplements ,only your vitamins and...well what have you got too loose except the weight.
Dr. Atkins revised Diet by aprillee592 ,Feb 02 '04
Pros: The book lets us know how it has been effective in changing the diet landscape. Cons: There are only a handful of reciepes and most too time consuming.
The revised book includes quite a bit of boasting from the good doctor on how well his book has done and how the diet has changed so many lives. All you have to do is to walk into in grocery store and you can see that he has started something, almost everything you can imagine is now available as being low in carbs. The book goes into detail explaining the science behind why the diet works, which is good for some skeptics when we have had the low fat ideal pounded into us. He does skim on the unpleasant side effects his diet has had on some people. There is a carb counter in the back of the book which is helpful in addition to some of the recipes. Anyone who is doing Atkins is well advised to keep a copy of this book in their kitchen.
