I bought Eat to live several weeks ago in order to lose weight. I haven't been disappointed. I lost 15 lbs in the first two weeks and haven't been hungry at all. The book is written by Joel Fuhrman, an MD with a unique approach to nutrition and health. The central premise of the book is that your health is greatly improved when you increase the amount of nutrients in the number of calories you take in. Or H = N/C. In practice this means emphasizing green vegatables both raw and cooked, nonstarchy nongreen vegetables such as eggplant, mushrooms, etc, fruit, and legumes. Starchy vegetables such as grains and potatoes are limited. It was a transition to give up my favorite foods, especially pasta and fish. But I feel much better. My blood pressure has dropped. And I'm two pant sizes down.

This is the first diet book I have ever read that gives you so many logical reasons why you should change the way you eat...not just to lose weight. Dr. Fuhrman has pages and pages of documented studies on how our poor diet directly affects our long-term health. This information is what helped make my decision to eat the way he recommends. The book is very well written and so full of information that even the common lay-person can follow and understand how and why to eat healthfully. This book, I believe, is a life-saver and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is wanting to lose weight and feel good......and keep the weight off forever.
