Pros: Funny, wild child in the city, in the hotel of everyone's dreams. Cons: Nobody's idea of a role model!
Mischief, thy name is Eloise!
Who raises a ruckus when she runs down the hallway, drives her tutor crazy, has a twelve-part 'temper fit'? Who takes four elevator rides to get from one floor to another, spends most of the day bothering hotel...

Pros: Sort of a 1950s version of Junie B. Jones--but better! Delightful illustrations! Cons: If I go beyond the "surface" of this story, I feel sorry for little Eloise.
Although she was introduced to the world in 1955, I didn't meet Kay Thompson's Eloise until 1990 when I was in my mid-20s and had given birth to my first child. My cousin, a native New Yorker, sent the now-classic book as a gift welcoming my...

Pros: Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous! Cons: Why can't we all live at The Plaza?
"I am emlin. I am six. I rawther like living with my nanny, Nonnie, at the Nashville Hilton"-- wait...what I was really going to say was -- oh, never mind, I'm soooo bored.
I think I shall ride the elevator for...

Pros: It is the best that is out there for kids! Cons: Not a single one -- though you may find the sequels disappointing.
I can't believe that I am the first person to write a review of this absolutely classic children's book by Kay Thompson.
No child's library is complete without the original Eloise. It was my favorite book growing up as a child, and I still...

Pros: Witty, beautifully illustrated story of the girl who has everything. Cons: Could instigate a creative child to mischief.
Meet poor little rich girl, Eloise. No last name, just "Me, Eloise". She lives in The Plaza with her Nanny, Weenie, the pug, Skipperdee, the turtle, and periodically, Emily the pigeon. What a life it is!
Eloise has total run of the...

Pros: Clever Writing, humorous pictures Cons: Wasn't impressed with the sequels
Who is this book really for? Children? Adults? God! Does it matter? My mom bestowed me with this book when I was 6. It is now tattered and torn, remnants of crayon scattered throughout. But I still pull it out every so often and get a good laugh. I bet...

Pros: Funny to both the child and the parents Cons: Long for a children's book
Eloise is my favorite book from my childhood. I'm in college now and have my copy of Eloise there with me.
I had that book memorized almost entirely when I was three and had everyone convinced that I was a genius for knowing how to read...

Pros: great drawings, great characters, classic Cons: none
I fondly remember my parents reading this book to me when I was small. Eloise is quite a character and is always finding a way to get into mischief. Mostly, however, I remember loving the pictures! The drawing of her casually watching the theater from...

Pros: Delightful story Cons: None
Eloise was a favorite of my mother's, I loved it, and now my daughter does to. The rambunctious and imaginative little girl made us all want to live in the Plaza with a nanny and a couple of long-suffering pets.
Because the title character is...
