I have had Esurance for four years- it is fine if you don't need it. But I got in one accident where there was a small amount of damage to a traffic sign and Esurance won't return my phone calls, letters, or e-mails. The State Department of Transportation is now filing a lien against my house for the unpaid bill for the traffic sign damage. They are also in the steps of garnishing my wages.
Thanks Esurance for taking my $97 a month and not helping me in the ONE time I needed it.

We were with Progressive for years, it turns out they were charging us almost twice what Esurance would charge us for a new policy. So we made the switch. Now we pay almost half what we did with Progressive WITH the same exact coverage. So, would they be there when we needed them? YES! We had our first Claim with Esurance after two years of being covered. They sent out a claims adjuster, they were very generous, and let us have our Truck, and the person we hit, have the repairs done at the dealer...not some chop shop. They cut the claim check super fast. We are SUPER IMPRESSED!

I shopped around for a lower rate, and heard about esurance. Their quote was outstanding! I went through their whole process, then clicked "purchase policy", all the while looking at their quote. Surprise! The immediately extracted a payment 3 times over their quote, and the cost of the policy as they emailed it to me was 3 times higher! Wow! What a ripoff! I called them, and was told "Uh, we have to do cancellations by hand, and it takes a while". I talked with a supervisor who was equally befuddled and clueless. I finally got the policy cancelled, then they couldn't figure out how to refund the giant premium. I had to call the credit card company and dispute the charge. Huge hassle, really slow phone reps, terrible web service.
I did the whole quote thing on the eSurance website and received a quote for $452 + $3 fee. Was more than $100 savings from my current provider so i thought great! I went and purchased it for $455. Of course, instantly they charged my $855.
If they are deceptive in their initial billing, how could you trust them in claims?
I had a lady hit my truck with her car and she is covered / insured by esurance. She was clearly at fault and both of our insurance companies found her to be 100% responsible. Never being in a wreck before I had no idea how this insurance claim process worked. I felt very vulnerable to not only the insurance company but to the repair shop that did the estimate. After Esurance beating around the bush for over two weeks - they finally closed out the claim and they now say my claim check is in the mail, we'll see. The rep was rude and very short with us on the phone. They do not answer all your questions - they act as if you are wasting their time when you call...emails are very short and only answer what they want. Long story short - I am staying with my insurance company Progressive, even if it is more ( by just a little and WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY)! I hope to never have to deal with Esurance again.
