Pros: Filter out noise better than the best noise-cancelling cans. Great sound quality. Pack up super-small. Cons: Annoying to take on and off. Not comfortable for everyone. Expensive by some standards.
These tiny little earphones deliver great sound quality. I'm no audiophile, but I know bad headphones (i.e. the free headphones you get in airplanes, the included earbuds with potable players) and good headphones (i.e. Koss Sporta-Pros, a pair of $30 ...

Pros: Satisfaction guarantee from store. No additional power required. Sound isolation. Cons: Isolation requires inserting ear buds so far in your ears you can taste them.
I must have gone through 24 1/2 pairs of ear phone/ear buds in the past 8 years. Some have no sound quality, some do not stay in the ear, and some just fall apart. Any head phone makes the ear sweat so ear buds are desired and the reduced sound quality ...

Pros: great sound clarity, light weight, only as good as the sound source Cons: expensive, thin cord feels flimsy, cord noise, sound only as good as the sound source
I bought my Etymotic research er6i's about a year ago. I use them pretty frequently and I like them. They block ambient sound well and they are lightweight. Take a little amount of time to get used to. Apparently in some countries they come with a nicer ...

Pros: Pure crisp sound quality. Bass boost adds fullness. Noise canceling protects hearing. Cons: Cord is long and flimsy plus creates noise with movement. Still lacking fullness.
First off, I have noticed that many of the reviews of this product listed here are quite lengthy and inaccessible to the average portable media user. So, I will attempt to keep it short, sweet, and to the point. I am a musician ...

Pros: Sound, comfort, durability, fit, bass Cons: None yet
I've owned my 6i's for about 5 months now. I use them all day, every day at work with my C

Zen Touch. I do like these very much. They're my first pair of in-canal headphones (IEMs, or In-Ear-Monitors). The ...

Pros: Excellent sound quality, comfort, and noise isolation. The best. Cons: Expensive, delicate, and easier to get dirty than standard headphones.
Sound Quality: I received these as a gift and was told that the sound reproduction and quality was amazing. I soon tried these and had to agree. These are one of the best headphones I have used as far as sound quality. Comfort: I frequently travel, ...

Pros: Compact, excellent noise isolation, very good sound quality. Cons: In-ear design not for everyone, a little delicate.
Etymotic Research ER-6i isolator earphones are in-canal, earplug type headphones. They are intended for the high-quality reproduction of music while blocking out background sounds in noisy environments. Without going any farther, I ...

Pros: 5 ft cord, good sound isolation, decent clarity Cons: needs more bass, 5 ft cord that tangles easily
I bought these about 9 months ago and have been pleased with them in some situations and disappointed in others. The ear phones that came with the 3G iPod were ok if the ambient noise level was fairly low but not very good if it was loud. I looked into ...

Pros: Noise isolation, clear sound, perfect cord length, good looks Cons: Requires determination to insert properly; value not there for everybody.
Ever been in that awkward social situation where somebody wants to "share" an earbud with you so that you can both hear something? I often wonder what exactly makes that so uncomfortable. Is it the idea of intermingling ear-wax? Probably. But another ...

Pros: Noise Elimination (complete and total)
High Fidelity
iPod companion Cons: Pricey
Not intuitive
I am a regular Joe when it comes to electronics. I am willing to pay for excellent sound reproduction, but only up to a point. I am far from an audiophile. My interest in the ER-6i was purely for function. When looking for a new set of earphones my ...

Pros: Sound, Design, and Comfort. Cons: Is it really worth that much? Audio plug a bit lose on jack.
Well I just got it today and my first impression was like OMG OMG OMG!!! Ok i unwraped it and took everything out. I was dissappointed to see so little things in the box, but hey what can they really give you anyways. Manual, some more paper, and ...

Pros: Awesome sound quality and accuracy.
Great canalphones for $US150 or A$200. Available cheaper Cons: Fidelity not up to ER-4S or Shure E4c.
Expensive for the casual listener
I've had many earphones over the years, from the humble Sennheiser MX400's and Sony EX71's to the more expensive Etymotics. But I've been wanting a pair of earphones I can travel with - not a $400 pair but something a little bit cheaper but still ...

Pros: Superb sonics, small package, complete kit, lightweight Cons: Price, getting used to its in ear location, cleaning, learning curve to insert properly
[ After over 3 weeks, I'm in love with these phones. I've gotten used to wearing them, I forget they are there. I'm now sensitized to the nuances of its quality, I can clearly hear the effects of lesser quality phones quickly. I now value them so ...

Beautiful Sound and Bullet Proof
by benny1406 ,Jun 24 '07
Pros: Excellent sound, durable, ample cord length, small, replaceable filter to protect speaker. Cons: Filters are a bit pricey and most retailers don't carry, order from mfg direct.
Awesome sound and durability. Running 20-50 miles per week and cycling 40-60 miles per week for the last 18 months with these in ear, no issues. Accidentally melted the filter into the speaker with a light bulb, once the sound canal was cleared - perfect sound again!

Great earphones -- Especially for the price!
by steve182t ,Jan 03 '07
Pros: Great sound. Great isolation properties. Great price. Cons: Bass could be a little better, but is still fine.
I did a lot of research from several sources on noise isolating earphones, and everything I've read about these impressed me. I bought a pair and I've had them about 2 weeks. I LOVE them! I use them with a Creative Zen mp3 player, and the sound clarity is excellent. The highs are bright and open and the bass is good as long as you make certain to insert the phones sufficiently into the ear canal. The noise isolating characteristics are excellent. I use them at the gym where they have loud music playing, and I'm in my own world with my music. With normal headphones, I have the volume setting at 22 or 23 out of 25. With the ER-6i, I can reduce the volume down to 15 or 16 and hear sounds in songs that I never knew were there. Compared to other noise isolating phones (like Shure) that cost twice as much or more, these are a great bargain. I got them on Amazon for $75 including shipping.
