Pros: Samuel L. Jackson, and some great North-England humour Cons: Seen it all before.
Summary: Note: The film reviewed here actually goes under the name of The 51st State here in the UK. As far as I am aware, the name is the only difference between this and the American release. Can’t explain the change of moniker really, did ... read more

Pros: Some decent action, generally interesting plot, nice first act. Cons: Logical flaws and overly convoluted storyline.
Summary: Sometimes, I wonder about the people that put together trailers for a movie. How do you select what 90 seconds of a film will best show the movie to the viewing audience? Mind you, this is all marketing, not production or artistry. Most of the time, ... read more

Pros: Apart from the fact this movie rocks? Cons: Dawn's potrayal of a Liverpudlian assassin that's spent too much time in Las Vegas.
Summary: I am totally blown away by this movie. The thought of Samuel L Jackson and Robert Carlyle both starring in Liverpool. Jackson embraced the role with 100% gusto, Carlyle slid along nicely as the local sidekick.
Most of it elaborates on how our ... read more

Pros: cool action flick, suspensful, hilarious, good cast Cons: a little confusing at times, Meat Loaf's character, typecast roles
Summary: Once again, Samuel L. Jackson is a fast talking, level headed, dangerous mother - shut your mouth! This man seems to be typecast into this kind of role - he plays the same character in every movie I've ever seen him in. In the beginning of this one, he ... read more

Summary: Preface
I've kept tabs on Formula 51 ever since it was in development and titled under a different name ("the 51st state"). After it did a meager $2.9 million its opening weekend - I had to check out what could possibly have gone wrong ... read more

Pros: Funny, brash Cons: swearing
Summary: Well, to read some of the paid critics you'd think this movie was a disaster, but that just ain't so. I think the major stumbling block has been people comparing it to the wrong type of movie
First to the script. Some people were expecting ... read more

Pros: Samuel L. Jackson is in the movie Cons: The movie tended to go to the side of gore more than was necessary
