Pros: Lower Fees, AdWords discounts for sellers; right now, PayPal's a better choice for buyers. Cons: Buyers must have US address; won't work with Ebay; money transferred only from credit card.
April, 2009 update for sellers: As of April, Google Checkout will no longer offer AdWords discounts to Google Checkout merchants. The fees for Google Checkout merchants have also been slightly intcreased. Checkout, the new ...
Pros: Promotions, not Paypal, no need to re-enter my info on sites Cons: Not enough stores accept it. More promotions would be nice
As most everyone else, I found out about Google Checkout from one of their promotions. I signed up to get $10 off $20 using Google Checkout. I also found to my surprise and delight that I could get free shipping in some stores that took Google Checkout. ...
Pros: There are no pros about dealing with Google checkout Cons: Big company with a reputable name like Google - doesn't mean anything
So you think with a prominent name like Google that purchasing from a company that you have not heard of before would provide you with a certain level of protection. After all, why would a company like Google use their name & Checkout to promote ...
Pros: One credit card on file that can be used with many merchants Cons: Plan to work a lot harder to resolve purchasing/shipping issues
I recently used Google checkout for holiday shopping on Buy.com, as they were offering a $20 coupon to use the service instead of going through Buy.com directly. What they don't tell you is that there is such a tenuous relationship between Google ...
Pros: Free payment processing of 10 times what I spend on Adwords Cons: Customers have to make a Google account when using the Payment Gateway.
Hi everyone! I usually don't write reviews about stuff on these web sites, though having read the above reviews I thought I should really put in my 2 cents worth :^) I've been using Google Checkout as a seller for about 4 months now and really ...
I can't even begin to describe how insane and unuseful this service is. I wanted to buy a domain name on July 1rst, because a website was having a Fourth of July special. I had only about 20 dollars in my account (just graduated from college, completely ...
Pros: None. Worst customer service. Cons: No protection to seller from charge back. Customer service is non responsive.
Bad selling experience I tried using Google Checkout for my e-store last February, I thought I'll have better experience than Paypal. I am so wrong. The following is my personal experience of Google Checkout. Buyer bought an item ...
Pros: Easy to set up. No riff raff like paypal. OMG I hate paypal. Cons: None. They are just providing a platform for us.
It was so nice to get a break from using paypal. Paypal only responds to you when they are ready and had a monopoly on the whole "internet transaction world". Good Job Google on this one. I use Google checkout for my recording and film company and never ...
Pros: Save you some money when you first use it. Convenient, no need to reenter information. Cons:
Returning merchandise will be headache since they don't provide credit card information to the seller.
I signed up a Google checkout account long time ago because it offered 10 dollars off for new customer. I used it once in a while. It is convenient because I don't need to reenter everything when I shop at on-line stores that I've never been to. Also, the website is quick and easy to use. However, early this month, I finally discovered its BIG drawback. I purchased a top from A/X (Armani exchange) on-line store through Google checkout. I got it, tried it on, and decided to return it. Shortly after that, A/X sent an email to me saying that I need to call them and provide them credit card information for return purpose because I used Google checkout. Then, you know, call customer service, wait in line, talk to unfriendly agent....what a headache! Returning things should be painless, like I used to experience with regular checkout.
Avoid Google Checkout at All Costs by delmarkevin ,Aug 06 '08
Pros: No pros at all Cons: Refuses to assist with vendor problems.
Unlike PayPal, credit cards, etc., Google Checkout refuses to provide any direct assistance when one of its members violates the rules/procedures for orders that Google circulates. The buyer is left on his/her own to sort out a problem with a vendor that Google pays in full and refuses to contact. Avoid!!!
A crapfest, with your money at risk. by sf6864 ,Jul 20 '06
Pros: Theoretically convenient, if it worked right. Cons: Zero customer support = Zero confidence. I can't trust them with my financial info.
I placed an order with one of their featured vendors, the ones that were offering a $10 coupon. The coupon code is supposed to be entered on the Google Checkout page, but that page never appeared - once you click "proceed" it placed the order, no chance to review or edit or ammend. The Google Checkout page was MIA - a pretty serious problem. Contacted google about this and it has now been 10 days with no response besides an initial apology and a promise to resolve ths situation. 10 days is a long time when your'e dealing with money and credit cards. Not trustworthy (at least not yet) we'll see if they can fix the problems they're having.
Decent, Very easy to use by johnnyjack777 ,Aug 08 '09
Pros: Very easy to add to existing sites or base sites around it. Very good documentation. Cons: Crappy support and forums since it's still in beta... o wait.
As a developer, Very simple to implement, most people's problems seem to stem from inability to communicate with google.... which is something you shouldn't be doing in the first place.
Getting a bad rep, and that really detracts from it. (Course people hate paypal and still use it :)
Pros: There were immediate notices of the transaction. Cons: Not delivered in a timely fashion and it was defective on arrival. No recourse.
One would hope that Google's reputation and horsepower would be an assurance of quality. Not so. The AC Adapter from SimpleMicro was defective. They refuse to offer a replacement or a refund. Google Checkout is not a reliable portal for purchasing anything that might fail.
Credit Card charged and no product shipped by tvarga70 ,Dec 27 '06
Pros: None Cons: Can't talk to anyone live at google
My credit card was charged and the product that I ordered was cancelled by the vendor for being discontinue. That was on Dec 5th and have not gotten my refund yet by Google. According to Google they never received anything from the vendor that they canceled the order. I called the vendor and they said that they can not refund my money Google has to do that. It looks like I will have to disputed the charge with my credit card company.
Google Checkout Problems by cw1861-1865 ,Jul 18 '07
Pros: Potentially, a future competitor to PayPal. Cons: No customer service people to speak with (no phone numbers are ever provided).
I recently attempted to integrate Google Checkout into my website with terrible results. Bank Verification did not work and I repeatedly received emails that only pointed to web addresses which could not assist me. For a week I was told that the problem was known and that their engineers were working on it. I wasted a great deal of my time and potentially lost business revenue since the system could not function properly. I finally gave up and withdrew from their program.
