  • All or Nothing

    Apr 17 '07
Pros: Two movies for the price of one, innovative, hilarious, edge-of-your-seat fun
Cons: Death Proof took a bit to get started, filtering techniques in Planet Terror

Summary: One of the biggest privileges that Americans have is the ability to go out to the movie theatre to see a brand new movie—it’s one of the best traditions available to us and I take full advantage of this past time many times a month. But as of late, the ... read more

  • Wait for Netflix!

    Feb 19 '08
Pros: Lots of blood, guts and gore, Tarantino trademark!
Cons: Not enough story to go along with jumps in story...

Summary: I was one of the few that thought I might go see this in theatres. I didn't have the time or the money to spend the $6.50 to see them. I was glad then when I received them through Netflix, because I would have felt cheated. I enjoyed the movies on the ... read more

  • Ty's Reviews-Grindhouse("Death Proof" Spoilers)

    Sep 23 '07
Pros: "Planet Terror", two films for one price, and the fake trailers, especially "Machete".
Cons: "Death Proof" was so-so and the films were released separately on DVD.

Summary: "2 1/2 Hours of Pure Dynamite". That was from the trailer. Believe me, "Grindhouse", a tribute to the old 70's "grindhouse" films created by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino, is pure dynamite, but only for part of the film. Oh and its length is 3 ... read more

  • One of the best films I have ever seen

    Sep 19 '07
Pros: The experience alone is worth the admission
Cons: Deathproof is slower than it should be, you won't get the experience on DVD

Summary: I can't describe Grindhouse in words, if only to say that I'm too giddy about the experience of viewing it, that it's hard to just describe it in mere adjectives. But what I will say about Grindhouse, is that it literally is one of the best movies I ... read more

  • Back to the Basics: Grindhouse is a Nostalgic Blast

    May 15 '07
Pros: Great gimmick is supported by very entertaining films from Rodriguez and Tarantino.
Cons: Tarantino should stay behind the camera.

Summary: The studios have had it all wrong for years. Instead of embracing the silly fun of the low budget genre pictures that sprinkled through the drive-ins and run down theaters in the 70s and 80s, they went in the exact opposite direction. What we got was ... read more

  • Bump and Grind: Tarantino and Rodriguezes Masterpiece Homage

    May 12 '07
Pros: Tarantino and Rodriguez clearly had a field day with this project.
    Cons: Tarantino cannot act!

Summary: Two directors I admire (for the most part) are Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. Action, violence, witty dialogue these directors deliver the goods. Pulp Fiction, Desparado, Reservoir Dogs, Mariachi, Dusk til Dawn Sin City and Shark Boy ... read more

  • Back To The Grind

    Apr 29 '07
Pros: Freddy Rodriguez, McGowan, Russell, Bell, cameos and support, trailers, stories, direction
Cons: Some dead spots and lots of predictability

Summary: In my youth, I never had the opportunity to experience a grindhouse for myself. The same, I suspect, holds true for others of my generation, as well as for those younger than me. The closest experience I had to grindhouses, which showed low-budget ... read more

  • “Grindhouse” Is Cheap, Over the Top, and Vulgar; But It’s Bloody Good Fun

    Apr 26 '07
    Pros: Overall it's entertaining
Cons: It's kind of over the top

Summary: Rated ‘R’ for just about everything and anything imaginable, “Grindhouse” is the new double feature from Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. A grindhouse was a term for theaters that showed double features of cheap exploitation films ... read more

  • Girlz Kickin' Butt!

    Apr 23 '07
Pros: Rollicking fun for a rowdy midnight movie house crowd
Cons: Tarantino's feature drags through "hip" (and completely superfluous) dialogue

Summary: Last night I enjoyed this double feature at a theater where you sit in sofas and eat pizza while you watch: MISTAKE. Grindhouse is not something to watch while you eat. Rodriguez / Tarantino clearly had fun making this double feature homage to ... read more

  • G-G-G-Grindhouse!

    Apr 15 '07
Pros: Rose McGowan and Kurt Russel made the roles and the soundtrack wasn't half-bad either.
Cons: I have one small complaint for Death Proof- it doesn't seem like a complete movie.

Summary: Grindhouse has to be the best action movie I've seen in two and a half years. I love this style and it gets even better when remade in modern times. The overall "grindhouse" effects of the two movies and the previews in between were done just right ... read more

  • Worth the ticket.

    Apr 14 '07
Pros: Excessive, bold, artful, refreshing, worth the ticket price.
Cons: Some people just can't sit for three hours.

Summary: The Trailers: I loved the trailers. "Machete" is the mexican exploitation film one, which they're apparently going to make into a release-to-dvd film. "Don't" was hilarious as for it's repetition of the word by the anouncer. Rob Zombies was my ... read more

  • this movie could have used a bit more Fox Force Five

    Apr 13 '07
Pros: great fake trailers and tangential bits; the redemption of Jeff Fahey; very good car chase
Cons: Rodriguez dreary and repetitive; Tarantino's effort, to quote Jeff Daniels, is minor Kafka

Summary: Netflix Selection Theory doesn’t work. The if-you-like-this-then-you’ll-l ike-that menus assume that movie judgments are only on based on superficial categories, rather than not-so-measurable aspects. Presumably, if I select the amazing March Of The ... read more

  • "This is ridiculous."

    Apr 13 '07
Pros: Does exactly what the directors set out to do, entertain in a grotesque fashion.
Cons: The films order, switch them around and the pacing would have been a lot better.

Summary: When Cherry (Rose McGowan) murmurs the line , "This is ridiculous," she is not kidding! Grindhouse is a double feature film by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino, which the two directors are paying homage to the exploitation film genre. ... read more

  • House Music

    Apr 11 '07
Pros: fun, fun- Over-the-top homage to 70s exploitation films
    Cons: Gets a little long

Summary: We have a running joke my film friends and I that in so many cases the trailers of new films are sometimes better than the feature we have paid to see, and sometimes the trailers are better than the features that they promote. Robert Rodriguez and ... read more

  • Come On To The Grindhouse.

    Apr 10 '07
Pros: Everything. It's a total blast.
    Cons: Read review.

Summary: I was incredibly exited about this movie before I even knew what it was about. All I heard was the Tarantino/Rodriguez (Two of my favorites) were collaborating for a film called “Grindhouse.” Having just purchased the Grindhouse edition of ... read more
