The NetVista N2800e thin clients make application deployment fast and simple. Because applications are stored on and accessed from servers, you only need to update an application once on the server to update all users who access the application from a NetVista N2800e. There's no need to visit individual desktops. The IBM NetVista N2800e includes 3270, 5250, VTXXX, SCII, and X-Server terminal emulation to give users access to their existing business applications on existing servers, including PC and UNIX Servers, S/400, RS/6000 and S/390. Netscape Communicator browser is available for accessing Internet and Intranet applications, and V.90 support is available for dialup connections. IDSN support will also be provided in a future update.
NetVista thin clients and express clients drive down the total cost of computing, simplifying management and maintenance while enhancing reliability. NetVista thin clients combine the graphical interface and rich application environment of PCs with the low cost, reliability and ease of management on non-programmable terminals. Thin Client Express can operate with or without the central management of Thin Client Manager V2R1. Thin Client Express provides entry into centrally managed Thin Client Manager environment. Migration is seamless and at no extra charge. Each express client contains a local configuration tool that allows administrators to configure the thin client without requiring a server. The IBM NetVista Thin Client Manager Operations Utility provides operations functions for the N2200, N2200e, N2800 and N2800e such as saving and restoring configuration profiles, cloning profiles from one thin client to another, etc. |
