JVC GRD796U Mini DV Camcorder

Pros: compact with a great zoom
Cons: contained a manufacturers defect and poor customer service

I purchased the camcorder because of it's small size and 800X digital zoom (yes it really gets that close but you definitely need a tripod at that magnification). Shortly after purchase however I noticed what looked like a burnt pixel and had to send it in for warranty repair. After 6 weeks the camera was returned only to find that now there is a round blurry spot on the screen that no amount of lens cleaning will correct. JVC says that I have to send it back for more repair and they offer no other options. At this point, it will have been in for repair for longer than I have owned the camera. I am writing to let prospective buyers understand the level of customer service they should expect if their camera like mine comes with a manufacturers defect.
