Great idea but poor implementation

by alexkr , Oct 09 '05
Pros: Really small and light
Cons: Very poor video quality
I’ve been reading articles about smart devices that use miniature hard drives for the last couple of years now, so when I finally came across JVC Everio family of hard drive based camcorders I new I needed to get one! The idea of course is ...

The best Day-After-Thanksgiving purchase I've made

by jam99talon , May 21 '08
Pros: Good video, easy to use, easy to transfer video, nice software included.
Cons: Short battery life, trouble focusing in dim light.
I bought this in 2006, so I've had it for a while. I love this camcorder. It takes decent video - we watch it on a 46 inch screen and it seems to be fine. I mean, obviously we're not talking newscast quality here, but it can take a pretty good ...

Great in Great light. Poor in poor light

by mommyamy , Feb 19 '08
Pros: Great zoom, no tapes, never record over anything
Cons: Poor quality in low light, hard to figure out software
I bought this camera about 2 years ago. I loved the fact that there was no tapes or DVD's to worry about. I loved the fact that you can pick it up and shoot without worrying about recording over anything. The zoom is great. It could also be used a ...

An excellent indicator of things to come

by markneustadt , Feb 20 '06
Pros: No discs, transfers to PC are fast and easy, great features
Cons: Poor battery life, poor picture quality in low light conditions
The JVC Everio series is the future today. I have no doubt about it. It's kind of like the iPod of camcorders. No tapes, no discs... you just shoot and shoot and shoot. It all gets recorded to the internal hard disk. The best part of this is that ...

by kevinvaughn , Feb 27 '06
Pros: Easy to navigate menus, very light, compact, hard drive recording
Cons: Video quality is unacceptable at this price, battery life is awful
We are expecting our first child, so a camcorder was on the list of things to buy immediately. When I saw this one, with the hard drive, was in our price range, I couldn't resist. I was very excited about this camera, and loved everything about it at ...

Very poor quality pictures and video. Don't buy!
by derekfap ,Jun 30 '06
Pros: Is small.
Cons: VERY, VERY poor quality video and pictures,
This is the worst quality I have ever seen from a video camera ever. Even my Vhs camcorder from 15 years ago took WAY better video than this thing. The still pictures are also WAY worse than my very first 1 megapixel digital camera. Mostly because it doesn't have a flash. Please save yourself, and don't make the mistake I made. DO NOT buy this camera.

Nice concept, but poor video quality
by coach_riddle ,May 18 '06
Pros: Lightweight and easy to handle. No tapes.
Cons: Menu buttons are on the inside of the screen. Software is too basic.
I bought this camcorder on sale since it was last year's model. After playing with it a little, I figured out the software and burnt a DVD. I was not impressed at all with the software or quality of video. My old Panasonic vhs-c is just as good of quality. And, the software was very basic. So, I too am taking this back and looking for something different.

A good start of a new generation of camcorders
by katdust ,Feb 06 '06
Pros: Easy to use video & digital pictures, small, & best of all no tapes!
Cons: no zero Lux, light is too bright, and the quality of the picture is dull.
It is easy to use, the size makes it easy to carry, you can use an external memory card and best of all......No tapes!!!! I love that part! :)
The quality and the annoying light that blinds people (like my toddler) makes it a disappointing. I too would love to see what the next version would be like. I'm sure they will work out these quirks.
