When I grew up Kenmore was good but now I think the quality has suffered. Anyway, the 44052 would not drain properly and was beginning to smell. I took of the bottom front plate and removed the black rubber boot connected to the pump. There was some sort of filter in the boot that was completely clogged with quarters and hair and lint and all sorts of things bacteria love to feed on. Once removed the smell and drain are fine. Bad design!

Pros: Clothes are virtually "dry" when the load is complete.

My husband and I purchased the Kenmore washer and dryer companion set in February of 2006. It has been a huge disappointment to say the least. Within the first week of having the machine, it started leaking. The service man came out and said there was nothing he could do about it, so we were given a brand new machine.

Then, in February of 2007, our circuit board went. Our manufacturer's warranty had just expired and we had to pay out of our pocket for a new one. The total amount of time to order and install a new circuit board was about 2 weeks.

Finally, we noticed that our washer has a funny odor to it. We always keep the door open after each use to dry it out inside. After months of smelling this odor, my husband discovered that there was MOLD and other scum vegetating behind the rubber gasket of the machine that lines the opening of the washer.

We are extremely disappointed and would recommend that if you are in the market for buying a washer/dryer, you research the product(s) carefully.

Pros: Clean, QUIET!, washes a FULL load with no issues, low price, excellent service!

Don't know where the other reviewers live, but I've had nothing wrong with this machine that wasn't caused by me. I bought mine used (6 months old) and didn't properly brace it when I moved it to my house. The move caused a hose to loosen & spill water onto the circuit board; Sears had a repairman at my house the very next day who diagnosed the problem and installed a new board immediately. I've had it for 5 months now and absolutely love it, there is NOTHING wrong with this machine!

Cons: -Horrific Vibration - Rattles walls & floors! -80 minute wash cycle - Too Long!

We've owned this washer (and companion dryer) for about 4 months, and in that time frame we've had the Sears repair man here three times! His response to was that "it's the best washer money can buy, but I would buy the extended warranty". Not what I wanted to hear after shelling out over $2000 for the set.

Pros: saves water, less detergent
Cons: Unreliable, broke after less than a month of use.

I bought this machine because I thought it would be great. It was for the first month I had it. Then it stopped working. I called Sears service, and a week and 2 day later, a repair person came to look at it. Per the repair man, the entire circuit board is blown. So now, I have to wait for the new part to be shipped to me, then schedule for another service call to have it fixed.
