Motorola SX700R 2-Way Radio

by some_guy5 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Oct 21 '06
Pros: Solid performance, lightweight
Cons: none
I bought the Motorola SX700R 2-way radios to use on fishing trips. In groups of two or three it is pretty easy to fish within sight of each other, but beyond three people it gets really tough not to spread way out. Additionally I have noticed that in ...

Good unit, but....

by lexter_05 , Sep 06 '05
Pros: Lightweight, durable construction. Good sound quality.
Cons: 2 watt and GMRS not worth the extra cost for extra three-block range increase.
After some comparison research for an affordable, reliable two-way radio for hiking, camping and staying in touch between two cars en route to the trailhead, I’ve taken the plunge and bought the Motorola Talkabout SX700R. As stated on the package ...

They have worked great for me
by andresaway ,Dec 02 '05
Pros: Range outdoors was great. Sleek design. Easy to use.
Cons: The belt clip breaks very easily, Handle it with extreme care. AAA batteries.
I used them out in the woods, and I got clear reception within 5 miles apart (8 kms.) and there was no line of sight. I don't understand how other reviewers say they have problems within a couple of miles or just blocks away. I wonder if they have ever tried other radios and performed the same way...

Good Set
by gusnyny ,Dec 08 '05
Pros: Reception, easy to use.
Cons: Plastic Frame should be made of rubber. Would be nice to have a flat base.
Have been using the Motorola SX700R two way radios for a week. So far they have been working great with very little noise. I use these in when I go hiking and also in multi floor buildings during maintenance projects. The reception is great b/w floors and the choice of so many channels makes it almost impossible to get messages from other radios. Would recommend.

not impressed
by dthomas69 ,Oct 07 '05
Pros: refer to above statement.
Cons: These radios performed poorly. I can only get about one mile out of them.
I like the body, nice look, nice feel, light and not too big. But that is offset by the performance.
