I downloaded and tried Musicmatch jukebox in hopes of a quicker and easier CD burning interface. I purchased their Jukebox Plus player for $19.99. On their web site they stated that with the Plus player, one can "Burn entire CDs in just a few minutes ...
The Good: The Radio 'Artist on Demand' is fun until they shut it down on me The Bad: My Platinum account magically disappeared, and was billed twice for the service. Overall: A very big bucket of headaches for me, no fun. I would not recommend this ...
You know, I am always looking for easy ways to upload music onto my computer so that I could make my own CDs and to place the songs that I have written and created onto the Internet as MP3s. MusicMatch gave me the ease of doing that. I first tried ...
Being exposed to computers at the tender age of 8, the first computer I ever came into contact was the Apple IIC. Apple vs. Commodore, ah, those were the days. Simple machines with many complexities, as we all know, to come. Boy how the times have ...
My biggest complaint is no tech support. They do not respond to email, so don't try. Upon purchase I was charged for both the $20, version 10, AND the $40 "all future upgrades", though I did not want the "all future upgrades" feature. Online webpage ...

absolutely terrible: DRM nightmares and no tech support by tkpk ,Feb 24 '04
I thought MusicMatch Downloads would be a great way to buy tunes online. Wrong!
The first song I bought wouldn't download. Tech support was somewhat slow to respond to my first two queries (two days and one week), but their responses were useless. It was clear that there was some Digital Rights Management (DRM) problem with my plain vanilla Win2k system, but they couldn't figure out what it was, and they didn't care either. Two months went by, with repeated emails by me, with no word from them. Eventually they finally gave up, said they didn't know what to do, and refunded my money.
I have gotten it to work with a Win98 machine, but I would only consider using MM Download again if they had something I couldn't get anywhere else. I've been using iTunes and had no problems (except for the fact that I can't use it on the Win98 machine).
Save yourself some grief, and stay away from MM Downloads.
Unless musicmatch removes this version I will never use their products again.... by MikeEckhardt ,Aug 08 '04
Have been with musicmatch for 5 years, and originally purchased their software with a lifetime of upgrades for $29.95. The life time they used worked until this year, then I had to upgrade to 8.2, and another $19.95 with limited life time upgrades. This lasted 2 months until tonight when they advised I had to upgrade to 9.0, which I did.
What a nightmare, it's now a full page music selling advertisment, and what is left of a stellar music program is gone. And popups, which I never had. Lousy skins, and a constant nagging to sign up for the music service. Don't buy into this, you can only burn 3 songs for free, then you have to upgrade. This can't be uninstalled, and an old version reinstalled. All sites have been changed, and my original version of the installation is now gone from my computer. This is a bad piece of software, do not download, you will have grief!
A good quality product with a few nuisances. and a couple of good surprises. by kojakichiban ,Jan 13 '05
Comparable to napster I think with a few things better and a few things worse. On the good side the homepage for musicmatch is far better that napster for navigating than what napster is. I haven't really dealt with customer service so I have to keep them neutral. The downloading is about the same with DSL that I use. The order accuracy is right on. I seem to have good luck with this service compared to other some of the other reviews that I have read, but I have not really dealt with customer service. The song selection is good and I really like the selection home page alot better that napster, but thats personal preference not per say musicmatch is better or worse. Overall (and so far) I like the service better than napster, but web services are like the weather, always changing.
Slow links, and abnormal playback volume... To Start by retailmac ,Jul 23 '05
I liked the free version of Jukebox ok, and then decided to download and pay for the upgrade to Jukebox Plus. Once I did the problems began. The sound quality during playback starts insanely high and distorted. Then the links to the music store would only work sometimes. Finally every time I tried to burn a CD using there software my XP system would freeze and I would have to reboot. I am now using Itunes in which I am totally satisfied. I do have to admit there Tagging lookup feature was great though.
They sell your email address to SPAMMERS! by dgdahl ,Dec 02 '03
Musicmatch's song catalog is ok, but needs a lot more titles to be comprehensive. It's fairly easy to find the title you are looking for, but often they do not have it available for download.
The software client (what you run on your pc) is iffy; it is based on marimba (a java technology), and if left running long enough it takes all the virtual memory on your pc.
The thing that makes this legal online song delivery medium unacceptable for me, though, is the fact that they sell your email address to spammers. I had a yahoo address at which I never received spam (honest!). I told them not to contact me with any "special offers"; basically I opted for maximum privacy. But the day after I signed up for the service (and without engaging in any other transaction that might have got me on the spam lists) I started to get offers for mortgages, genital enlargement, you know the rest. This makes me mad.
I docked them a star for selling email addresses, and another for the inadequate catalog.
Fairly large selection, very easy to order and download. Technical support just about doesn't exist, customer service is even worse. If there are any problems at all with the software or download, you are pretty much on your own. I can't recommend this service to anyone.
I purchased MusicMatch, but I have been having trouble making it work. And getting MusicMatch to even respond to me has been a nightmare. The player is great, but the customer service is the worst I have ever seen.
Very poor customer service and technical support by bmwpinkman ,Jan 08 '04
MusicMatch appeared to be a great way to buy legal songs. Their catalog of music is fair. Many of the larger artists ie AC/DC are not represented at all. Many more obscure artists are missing completely.
I've purchased over 200 songs from the company. Now the tracks will only play for 30 seconds and then stop. Weeks of emails have not solved the problem. Their usual response is "We're sorry you are having difficulty..." rather than a concrete solution to the problem
Download at your own risk by akawilhelm ,May 11 '05
The software is easy enough to use, but I forked over $30 for version 8 only to get hit up for version 10 less than a year later for another $30. There doesn't seem to be any way to stop the screen prompting you to download ver. 10 from popping up every time you start up.
But the real problem with MM is tech services or the utter lack thereof. I downloaded five track that had dragging sounds (like a bad tape deck). I contacted customer service who directed me to tech services who told me that the tracks were defective and then directed me to billing to see about refunding me for the tracks. I just got an e-mail back from billing telling me that I need to contact tech services.
This is, of course just a classic run around. Basically they just frustrate you to the point where you give up, which is where I find myself now. Needless to say I won't be downloading any more track from MM, and I can't recommend it to anyone else.
TOTAL FRUSTRATION NO TECHNICAL OR CUSTOMER SERVICE by kolt123 ,May 13 '05
I am open to new software and this came with my 2 DELL DJ30 units i purchased. I thought since it was from DELL it was good. The software has great features and all worked fine on new laptop until I tried to use on 2nd Dell pc desktop. You are prompted that you can use software on up to 5 pc's so i was happy and downloaded on to desktop. I tried to download albums for fee on VISA on desktop but only could get 30 sec of track. The error in license keeps coming up. I tried to download and pay for second software. They charge your VISA but it still would not work.
There is NO Technical Service and no way to call or contact them. They frustrate you reply with useless e-mails. I tried FAQ downloading patches etc to no avail.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROGRAM because they do not CARE or service your requests SHAME OB DELL for allowing them to destroy my whole experience to use a MP# player.
IF YOU WANT 100% FRUSTRATION w/ NO RECOURSE BUY THIS otherwise stay away YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
I had musicmactch v9.0 that came with my philips go gear mp3 player... worked awesome... flawless even...
anyways, i upgraded to the musicmatch v10.0 after I got the prompt to update....
Had nothing but problems with v10.0
Froze up everytime I tried to use my go gear... would never work, always had to close the program from task manager and then if I tried to re-open the program it would not run again until I re-started my computer or when to task manager processes and shut down everything having to do with musicmatch...
I had to do a system restore of my computer, as I was unable to uninstall v10.0 due to some dll file missing... dont know....
i have since reinstalled v9.0 and went to the settings and turned off the update alerts.... have never had a problem since and I am back to loading tunes on my go gear...
v10.0 is the worst version of this software and i do not recommend upgrading to it, or downloading it at all....
