  • Caught Between Obscurity And New York City

    Mar 06 '07
Pros: Hugh Grant, Drew Barrymore, Kristen Johnston, delightful script and music
Cons: Some of Sophie's quirks are a bit too much

Summary: Alex Fletcher has become a bit of a musical footnote when we meet him at the beginning of the movie Music And Lyrics. In the eighties, he was one of the singers and songwriters of the successful English band Pop. After band leader Colin Thompson ... read more

  • Music & Lyrics - not to be missed

    Jul 25 '08
Pros: Great original music, fantastic acting
    Cons: Couldn't find any!

Summary: When I first saw the commercials for Music & Lyrics on TV, I figured that I didn't want to see it that badly. I thought about an entire movie with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore, and I just didn't see where the chemistry would come in. They don't seem ... read more

  • Face The Music & Lyrics On Screen

    May 30 '08
    Pros: A feel good movie!
    Cons: None!

  • Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore cook up some sweet Music. And Lyrics.

    Aug 10 '07
Pros: Good leads, solid script, fun romantic comedy.
    Cons: None.

Summary: When it comes right down to it, I like romantic comedies. They're cheesy and predictable, but so is a lot of the sci-fi and drama that I enjoy watching when it's my choice. So yesterday when it was my wife's choice, and she wanted to watch "Music and ... read more

  • Music Can Be Funny

    Aug 07 '07
Pros: The ridiculous 80's music video
Cons: Highly improbable weak and long romance story between a musician and a plant caretaker

Summary: In Hollywood, there is a truth: Hugh Grant can play an effective leading man in romantic comedies. However, Hugh Grant seems to only do romantic comedies... which can be boring for people who don't like romantic comedies (like me). Now, for the ... read more

  • Another Good Performance by Barrymore

    Jul 23 '07
    Pros: Funny, but not rude
    Heartwarming
    Good Acting
    Cons: Cliche role for Barrymore

Summary: Drew Barrymore seems to have changed her image around from the days of Scream to her string of romantic comedies, starting with The Wedding Singer. Although, I'm not sure what keeps them coming, there is something about Drew that makes these romantic ... read more

    Mar 20 '07
Pros: Hugh Grant+Drew Barrymore have chemistry.
    Cons: Slow moving, too cute.

Summary: I went and saw this movie with my dad a few weeks ago. The main reason I wanted to see it is because Hugh Grant is one of my favourite actors, hes so cute. I also love Drew Barrymore I think shes great and I love her sense of style and acting ability. ... read more

  • Music and Lyrics, I had a Perpetual Grin When I Wasn't Laughing

    Mar 10 '07
Pros: Hugh grant in tight pants as a rock star. Very funny.
    Cons: Nothing worth noting.

Summary: I recently saw Music and Lyrics with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. Though there wasn't absolute magic between them in their romance, (though it was good) I found the humour and premise hysterical. Basic Story line Hugh Grant was Alex ... read more

  • Music and Lyrics - The Spontaneous Romantic-Comedy

    Feb 19 '07
Pros: Great cast, and the hilarious antics that make the film over-the-top
Cons: some minor cheesy elements expected from a romantic-comedy

Summary: No Spoiler review. Music and Lyrics, starring a great group of well-known cast, is a hilarious timely romantic comedy. I say timely, not only because the premise to the film revolves around a 1980's has been - a cheesy one at that - but ... read more

Cons: the title doesn't really work for me

Summary: I was a child of the 80s but I wasn't really into much of the music of my childhood. I was part but not part of the MTV Generation, witness to but not fan of groups like Duran Duran and Huey Lewis and the News. Every so often a song or two would catch my ... read more

Pros: Fun, funny, great lyrics and music, excellent chemistry
Cons: Drags in some parts, predictable

Summary: Hugh Grant is a modern-day Cary Grant. He has built up a body of work that is amazing in its breadth - particularly in the romantic comedy genre (About a Boy, Two Week’s Notice, Bridget Jones Diary, Love Actually, Notting Hill, Nine Months, ... read more

  • Charming and Funny

    Jul 27 '08
Pros: Drew Barrymore, good soundtrack, Hugh Grant
    Cons: a bit predictable

Summary: Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant have great chemistry in this movie. It has a good story line, and even though it's a romance/comedy, it's not all mushy and sappy. The plot was a bit predictable, but not so bad as to turn you off. I adore Drew, and I feel

  • Really good movie!

    Oct 08 '07
Pros: Hugh Grant is really funny, has lots of small jokes
    Cons: listen, it's a rent-it type movie, not a buy-it

Summary: Thought it was overall a good movie; however because of the Hugh Grant's accent you had to listen very closely to hear all of his really funny jokes. Also, I feel like Drewbarry Moore started out too quirky and then became more normal at the end.

  • enjoyable trip down memory lane

    Feb 27 '07
Pros: Witty. Entertaining. Has Hugh Grant, plus a manager with a refreshingly nice personality.
Cons: You'll want to buy the soundtrack- potentially embarrassing exchange at the music store ahead...!

Summary: This film took us right back to our early dating days, fashion bloomers and unusual hair-dos. Every 30-50something will have heart-strings twanged by this film - it is impossible not to identify with the characters, music or events depicted. I
