Pros: Free, tabbed browser windows, password manager, form filler, download manager.. Cons: AOL ads during installation, and still may be too little too late
Netscape 7.0 Web Browser/Email-Newsgroup Reader/Web Page Editor (N7) is the latest descendant of Mosaic, the browser that brought the internet to life. Mosaic, originally developed at the University of Illinois, became Netscape in 1994, and for...
Pros: Fast rendering; very stable under Mac OS 9.1; tabbed browsing; no compatibility issues Cons: Loads slowly
I figured Netscape was pretty well dead after losing its marketshare to Internet Explorer, the browser slapped together by our old friend, Microsoft Corp. Sure, Netscape gave Microsoft a good run for a time, but the company just couldn't keep up with the...
Pros: Integrated popup blocking software, tabbed pages, full compatibility Cons: Installs too much AOL chaff
Nutscrape.
That's what the Netscape Navigator browser has been nicknamed through the last several revisions. And rightfully so on many accounts; Navigator as of late has been horribly incompatible with many webpages and just wasn't...
Pros: Smooth operating, crashes very little, tabbed feature a must have Cons: no hot keys for tabbing, incompatible with some microsoft friendly sites
Well, it's been out for a couple of months now and I must say I am impressed.
Having started out with Netscape 2.0 back in the early days of the browser wars, I only switched to IE when it became easier to use and was the only supported...
Pros: Good for users who are tired of using IE which comes with your pc. Cons: None really
Back in the early days I started using Netscape 4.0 which wasn't all that great since it did not run stable, but still ok for me. Then I decided to switch from Netscape 4.0 to IE5.5 from all the way to IE6. Then it hit me IE ran more smoother than...
Pros: Free; tabbed browsing; slick interface. Cons: More professional than most people need; most pages still designed for IE.
I've worked with many internet browsers, from Microsoft's Internet Explorer 4, 5 and 6 to Opera to Netscape Communicator. Internet Explorer, still the most widely-used browser by a huge margin, is a made-by-Microsoft, 99% compatible browser that...
After complete fiasco of Netscape 6.0 I decided to try version 7.01 to give Netscape another chance.
Installation was smooth and robust. Unfortunately it screwed up my Java installation installing some strange version of Java -- be careful. In...
Pros: Fast, beautiful, full-featured, fully configurable, excellent mail client, more refined than it's counterpart mozilla. Cons: Most sites are designed for IE, so NS7 occasionally renders things different or incorrectly.
I just love this new browser. It's a pity that it's so late. The only complaint I have is that website developers focus on Internet Explorer rendering (and for a good reason: it's the most used without a doubt), so things sometimes look incorrectly....
Pros: Smooth, nice looking, robust, has everything in it, fast, better than all other browsers. Cons: requires a pretty good amount of memory, at least 32MB.
Netscape has always been my browser of choice. It runs so smoothly on macs, much smoother than Internet explorer. I have it running under OS X, on my powerbook. It has everything, and that is why it makes it the best browser, towering over all browsers. It has AIM right on the side of it, so i can im friends and browse at the same time in the same window. it has mail in it as well, so I can check mail and do everything without having to open multiple applications at once. It also has composer, I can build my website so easily, It has IRC chat as well, though i dont really understand how to use it. And the best part, it has popup blocker, spam filters, form, cookie and password managers, tabbed browsing and so much more. And it can handle all of this at once without crashing. It is the best, finally netscape is back and better than ever. Should have all IM services in it though.
