2009 Mazda Mazda3 Hatchback
Fun, practical and good looking
by rshanks66
Pros: Looks--sexy, distinctive. Practical, 25 mpg, hauls everything. Luxurious. Hauls a**.
Cons: Wish it had AWD. No roof rack option. Dumb. Can't work windows with fob.
This is a fun, practical little car that doesn't feel cheap, slow or too little--like so many of the competitors in this field (Corolla, Civic, Cobalt, Elantra, Sentra). I loaded my 2009 Grand Touring 5-door up with every option except the GPS and it still came in under $20k, which is great for a car with leather, power seat, auto xenon headlights, auto wipers, Bose stereo, moonroof, sports suspension and so much more. I like how the car looks fast and is very responsive to drive. Not as quick as the Speed3 version but I have no complaints. I'm a bit of a lead foot and drive 75% in city stop-and-go and I still get over 25 mpg! The back seat is very comfortable too--much bigger than my Audi A4 wagon. When you need to haul things, the hatch opens wide and the seats fold flat.

2009 Chevrolet Hhr
2009 Chevrolet HHR, Cool Car
by mikeh11
Pros: MPG 27 and 31. Drive responsive, sporty. Both rear seats fold down for cargo room.
Cons: Windsheild pillar supports are wide, can obstruct view. Problem with radio, a service call fixed
I bought this in March of 09 and now have 15,000 plus miles. I'm a car guy and this is my 17th new vehicle.
The body fit seems good. Body style is appealing.

2009 Honda CR-V
Honda CRV is a Great Little Car!
by prudentshopper
Pros: Great car overall...reliable and economical and really nice to drive!
Cons: no light on sunvisor mirror (no big deal!)
I chose the Honda CRV EX-L because of it's great look, economical gas mileage, space, ease of driving and price. I got mine for $25,000 flat!  It was "used" with 350 miles on it.  Love being able to use regular gas and the mpg is great.  Lots of space in the back and the seats fold down to give even more room.  Compact size makes it easy to drive.  I previously drove a Dodge Grand Caravan and an Acura MDX...so the CRV is a "piece of cake" to drive.  Lots of luxury features...leather interior, 6 disc CD player, AUX feature to hook up an ipod, XM Radio, heated seats, lumbar support, all power seats, windows, mirrors, sunroof....so good I bought a new one for my daughter too!
