Pros: Excellent optics. Stabilization works well. Cons: Too big and heavy.
These appear to be essentially the same as the Fujinon Techno Stabi binoculars. The quality of construction and optics are excellent. Images snap into focus easily. The image stabilization works very well. It does not freeze images but rather ...
Failed in less than two years. Poor support. by bluemoontug ,Jan 17 '08
Pros: work great when they work Cons: Very poor service support from Nikon
I purchased Nikon StabilEyes 14x40s less than two years ago. When they work, they are great. Unfortunately, mine quit working all together. I sent them to Nikon for repair. After almost one month, I was told they were going to be replaced. A month later, I still dont have them and according to Nikon, they are out of stock and no one in the company that the service department has access to has any idea when they will be available. I spent a small fortune on these and Nikons attitude is really frustrating. I would shop for a different brand (and will probably end up spending another small fortune if Nikon is unable to provide a replacement soon.)
Nikon Stabileyes 14x40 Review by hexxish ,Jun 24 '08
Pros: Rock steady, quiet and sharp view Cons: BULKY , would like more power (magnification) ,
I haven't had mine very long (about three months, so I don't know what the future will bring. As for now I love the things. Struggled with jittering of conventional spotting scopes and binoculars for years and these deliver rock steady views. They are a bit cumbersome and although I did read the dimensions, I never saw a picture of the bottom of the unit and was surprised at how bulky they were due to the box that the batteries sit in. Yes they are also heavy, but compared to using a spotting scope with a tripod it is still a much better solution.
To sum it up, so far no problems and I am quite satisfied with their performance.
