GREAT camera, except............
by shoreisnice ,Mar 20 '06
Pros: quick, compact size, rotary control Cons: NO OPTICAL VIEWFINDER, cannot connect to PC/TV or charge battery without base
GREAT camera, except............ no optical viewfinder. I narrowed my choices down to this camera and the Canon Powershot SD550 Digital ELPH. I bought the Nikon and it worked great...indoors. I went to the beach at lunchtime (yeah I can do that) to test it out in bright sunlight and could barely see anything in the LCD, even after adjusting brightness. I returned it and got the Canon, that has an optical viewfinder, and I am very happy with it. Too bad because the Nikon is a great camera. If the Nikon had an optical viewfinder, I would have kept it. The rotary control is also very cool.

Compact and Affordable
by twright79904 ,Jul 22 '08
Pros: Auto shutoff. Various options when taking pictures. language selection, easy deletion of pictures. Cons: On/Off button is small and can be difficult to turn on.
First bought this camera as a gift for my mother, after playing around with it and seeing how clear the pictures turned out, I decided to get one of my own.
This camera takes clear, sharp pictures. Has a 6.0 mp and not only can it take pictures but you can use it to take mini movies. Both have clear, sharp clarity.
This camera is easy to use, when turning on for the first time it allows you to set the date an time also allows for you to time stamp the pictures as you take them.
The LCD screen provides a middle frame to center your picture on while the screen tells you how many pictures you have left on your memory card as well as battery level. No more guessing about how many pictures you may have, or worrying about how much battery time. The camera also has an auto shutoff.
This camera is perfect for trips and anytime!

I love it!

Pros: Small and light weight. Large 2.5 inch screen. Easy to read modes. Cons: I really do not have any complaints about this little camera. It is a gem!
I bought the coolpix S5 before a trip to England and Ireland. We were attending my stepson's wedding and I am not the best photographer. I did not have to be. The pictures I took were excellent. The camera was easy to use and the large viewing screen was easy on my 50 eyes. I would recommend this camera to anyone and everyone. As a matter of fact, several guests at the wedding were so impressed they are now proud owners.

**DONT BUY AND SAVE YOUR MONEY***
by sivasu78 ,Dec 01 '07
Pros: nice LCD screen, looks sleek and stylish Cons: Doesnt take good pics
This camera looks good in store and works only in bright light settings .I bought this camera and was happy for a while until I found this issue.
Functions good when using flash and in daylight. The pics are hazy without the flash.
**This camera cannot work in low light setting**
I am not the only one having these issues as you can read many other forums and come to this conclusion.
Too expensive and not worth what you paid for.
