Pros: Eckhart - he's endearing, and kind of a cross between Bon Jovi and Robin William Cons: Zeta Jones - she's comfortable in the kitchen and the market, but otherwise distant
Summary: One of my pet peeves is how movie trailers, seen many times (if you go to the movies at least once a week, as I do) influence you to believe that a movie will be of one genre, when the real film is startlingly unlike what the trailer portrays. Such is ... read more

Pros: Great performances - warm, emotional atmosphere - nice soundtrack Cons: predictable plot, unoriginal
Summary: Since I'm a sucker for rom-coms when I first saw No Reservations on DVD I absolutely loved it. However it's not a typical rom-com. It's more of a drama with romantic and family elements. The story is about a lonely successful chef (Catherine ... read more

Pros: Fine actors, directed well and nice score. Believable story. Cons: Music may have been a little loud at times or out of sync with mood(dubbing)
Summary: Beset by the mind numbing barrage of summer block-buster sequels, I needed a reprieve in the form an adult oriented drama that appealed to a more serious side than just my entertainment fix. I recognized this in 'No Reservations' upon reading a capsule ... read more

Pros: Hmmm... well... Cons: A mechanical plot and an empty screenplay void of emotional depth.
Summary: I'm a Scott Hicks fan, I freely admit that. I've been a fan of his work ever since "Snow Falling On Cedars." I heard Hicks name attached to this film and I forgot about all of the negative buzz that surrounded this film. So what has "No ... read more

Pros: Clean, entertaining, funny, full of emotions Cons: Has a typical romantic comedy type of ending
Summary: We saw this not really expecting too much but just entertainment. Surprisingly, my husband picked this one out since the lines were too long for the opening weekend flicks. I wanted to see it but really hadn't heard anything great or bad about it so ... read more

Pros: restaurant setting, some of the supporting characters are wonderful, generally well acted Cons: no chemistry between Zeta-Jones and Eckhart or Zeta-Jones and Breslin, fairly unoriginal story
Summary: No Reservations is not a terribly original movie. The career woman who inherits her dead sister's child or children has been a recurring plot line in many movies for more than 25 years. No Reservations is a perfectly adequate incarnation of ... read more
